In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter commemorating White Oleander's 20th birthday, the 43-year-old actress explained why she left Hollywood behind. When she starred in Astrid in Janet Fitch's 2002 film adaptation, the actress was introduced to fame. Lohman continued to work for seven years, but she left Hollywood after meeting her husband, Mark Neveldine, on the set of the 2009 film Gamer. She and the filmmaker bought a farm in upstate New York on 200 acres and had three children together. Lohman found it difficult to return to acting after she became a mother and decided to focus on raising her children. The mother said she values her anonymity and is relieved that she 'never' gets noticed anymore because she was treated differently as a well-known actress.
