The British actress, 60, suggested a focus on 'lived experience' ran the risk of writers feeling anxious to take on topics and identities that are 'alien' to them but that they might want to 'explore'. Speaking to The Times, she discussed how the theatre industry operates today and said it was a good thing that more people than ever are being 'brought to the table' but added it's possible for male writers to create 'fabulous' female characters.

On Tuesday, Karen Gillan and Alex Kingston joined Doctor Who fans as they reunited for a shopping trip. During series five, six, and seven, the two actresses appeared opposite each other in the hit BBC show starring Matt Smith. Karen, 36, appeared as Amy Pond, the Doctor's companion, while Alex, 60, played River Song, Amy Pond's daughter, Melody Pond.

Fiona Richmond, a former glamour model and 70s sex symbol, has listed her four-bed detached cottage in Hampshire for £2 million. The 77-year-old's home also has its own B&B store, The Onion Store, which has appeared on many BBC television shows and hosted A-list guests including Alex Kingston and Jarvis Cocker. The 6.5-acre estate, which is nestled in the English countryside, houses the historic pink-thatched cottage dating back to the 16th century.
