Alberto Carlos Rosende (born February 14, 1993) is an American actor best known for his role as Simon Lewis in Freeform's supernatural drama television series Shadowhunters.

He now portrays Firefighter Candidate Blake Gallo on the American drama Chicago Fire.

Early life and education

Rosende was born and raised in South Florida to Martha Cristina Ferrucho and Alberto Rosende. His father is a major general in the US Army Reserve and was appointed Commanding General of the 63rd Readiness Division, which is located in Mountain View, California, in October 2019. Diego, his younger brother who works in film production, is an actor who works in film production. He is of Colombian and Cuban descent. Rosende appeared in a variety of productions, including as Link Larkin in Hairspray, at Fort Lauderdale Children's Theatre. Danny Zuko in Grease, Emile De Becque, South Pacific, and Dr. Lyman Sanderson in Harvey attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, where he was a member of STA Players. Rosende was diagnosed with testicular cancer in April 2013. Rosende earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in 2015.

Rosende is currently engaged to actress and former Shadowhunters costar Tessa Mossey.

Career

In the 2013 short film The Swing of Things, Rosende's first professional acting work was as a swing dancer. In the CBS police procedural drama "Sins of the Father," as Carlos Santiago, he appeared in five episodes. As Jordan Messina, he appeared in the NBC police procedural drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for the seventeenth season in which he appeared as Jordan Messina. Rosende had been cast as Simon Lewis in the Freeform supernatural drama Shadowhunters, based on Cassandra Clare's The Mortal Instruments book series, from January 12, 2016 to May 6, 2019.
