News about Alan Sugar

I was on the first series of The Apprentice but I didn't learn anything about business from the show - Alan Sugar's aides do nothing and contestants don't get any privacy

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 18, 2024
A former Apprentice star revealed contestants are kept in 'prison-like conditions'- saying he didn't learn 'anything about business' on the show. Raj Dhonota, 49, from Kent, (right) appeared on the very first series of the popular TV business show back in 2005 (left) before being fired by Lord Alan Sugar (centre) in the ninth week. However opening up about the BBC show, Raj who is moving to the US to re-launch his career after two bankruptcies, claimed contestants were given 'no privacy' as they were constantly being 'supervised.'

Apprentice fans surprised to see cameraman filming from a wheelchair - and question why show is using 'budget' option instead of high tech equipment

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 16, 2024
The BBC has divided opinion after appearing to use a wheelchair to film scenes from The Apprentice.  A video posted on TikTok shows a candidate strolling while pulling a suitcase next to the River Thames by Tower Bridge in London. The classic and iconic shot from the show shows candidates with their suitcases after they have been 'fired' by Lord Alan Sugar. But the programme seems to have employed an unusual filming method as the cameraman is sat in a wheelchair while being pulled along by another member of the crew.

CHRISTOPHER STEVENS: The best bit of The Apprentice is watching the candidates get ripped apart

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 11, 2024
CHRISTOPHER STEVENS: Charm, the magical quality of being likeable, is a superpower. When it fails, the result is as catastrophic as Superman losing his ability to fly - at 80,000ft. Tre Lowe, perhaps the most charismatic candidate ever to pitch for Lord Sugar's money on The Apprentice (BBC1), crashed out of the sky in a long, screaming nosedive, during the interview round - the one genuinely entertaining segment of this aged format. Tre wasn't Superman, just Wile E Coyote discovering there was nothing beneath him but a bottomless abyss. As his luck ran out, he almost turned to the camera with a pitiful gaze and a sign that said, 'Goodbyeeeaaarrrgghhh!' Tre never stopped reminding us that he had a Top Three hit with Body Groove, back in 2000. His smiling confidence has carried him aloft during ten weeks of blunders and in-fighting. But when he presented his business idea to Sugar's team of interrogators, it proved worthless. He dreamed of marketing 'testosterone shots', fruit smoothies crammed with vitamins and herbs to maximise a chap's macho potential.

EastEnders star Rita Simons reveals Alan Sugar is her uncle as she calls him a 'big softie' but admits he can be a 'bit grumpy'

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 9, 2024
EastEnders star Rita Simons has revealed that Sir Alan Sugar is her uncle.  The actress, 47, appeared on Tuesday's Good Morning Britain where she discussed her little-known family connections. The Apprentice legend Lord Sugar, 77, is Rita's uncle, as he's married to her aunt Ann Simons.

I was in series one of the Apprentice and been bankrupt twice - but entrepreneurs shouldn't worry about failure

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 6, 2024
Despite being fired in the ninth week, Raj Dhonota, who was in the first season of Lord Sugar's BBC show, found success in sales. Over the years, he has established several profitable tech companies, but before the padnemic, he found himself facing his second bankruptcy after establishing a company meant to assist entrepreneurs. Despite his setbacks, he's planning to head to the United States to start his tech venture.

I want to turn Isle of Sheppey into the next MONACO: How town could be made a seaside tax-haven for the mega rich thanks to ancient document

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 30, 2024
Des Cross, 71, insists that the 4,000 residents of Queenborough should not be paying any form of tax because of a Royal Charter enacted by King Edward III in 1369. Following a visit - and even built a castle on the Isle, which was once a significant wool product, the monarch and Queen Phillipa, who the town is named after, took a liking to seaside village. Sheppey was once Europe's biggest exporter of wool, but there was a shortage of people on the island to work in the processing plants and supporting businesses. According to Des, King Edward III ordered the Queenborough Charter to exempt residents from taxes and tolls in order to bring more people to the area.

EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: Prince Andrew plays musical chairs at chapel service in Windsor as he moves to the front row

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 29, 2024
EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: Prince Andrew performed a version of musical chairs in Windsor's St George's Chapel for the late King Constantine's memorial service. In the second class, he was supposed to sit next to his ex-wife Sarah. The front row was reserved for Queen Camilla and working royals plus Marina Ogilvy, who was seen in a wheelchair for the first time. The Duke of Kent, who should have been with his sister and niece in the second row, was carried to the second row like a jumbo cuckoo Andrew. Would absent William - who has little time for Andrew (who bagged pole position as the highest in the line of succession present) - have relegated his uncle to his proper place?

The Apprenticeship's Review: Lord Sugar's sarcastic jokes and two teams of twerps: The time has come, writes CHRISTOPHER STEVENS

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 22, 2024
Michael McIntyre, please move over. Lee Mack, Shut your mouth. Alan Sugar is in the house, and he has them strolling in the aisles. However, I've had a sense of humor or he's surrounded by sycophants on The Apprentice (BBC), but the good lord's scripted ad libs were much more bad than average. After the annual treasure hunt, this year's crop of exceptional incompetents was in for an ear-drubbing. Previous intakes have been sent as far afield as Dubai, but funds in Sugar Towers will be tighter as a result of this cost-of-living crisis, because the two teams of twerps did not travel to Jersey instead. They were expected to spend as little as possible on a shopping list of puzzles that included Jersey wonders (a sort of knotted doughnut), shucked oysters (that is, open) and a knitted jersey with an anchor design as usual.

Karen Brady, 54, who plays Lord Alan Sugar, says she is too old to be Lord Alan Sugar's right-hand lady

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 4, 2024
Despite the fact that Karen Brady is still going strong at 76, she has revealed she's 'getting old' at 54 to be Alan Sugar's right-hand woman on The Apprentice. Baroness Brady, who has been on the BBC show for 15 years, said, "I'm getting old for it, because television's a young person's sport." The days are long, we film seven weeks back-to-back without a break, from five in the morning to 11 at night,' she said. I was in my 30s when I started, and now I'm in my 50s.'

Who was fired from The Apprentice? After the men suffered a humiliating £500 loss, sales executive Oliver Medforth is the first candidate to be fired

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 1, 2024
On Thursday night, sales executive Oliver Medforth was the first candidate to be barred from the new series of The Apprentice. After the men's team suffered a humiliating £506.40 loss, Lord Alan Sugar sacked the Yorkshire businessman. The 18 hopefuls were given by the mogul, 76, with an away day in the Scottish Highlands.

The APPRENTICE 2024 REVIEW: According to CHRISTOPHER STEVENS, the candidates this year are unquestionably thracious. Alan Sugar will continue to produce churning shows as long as the BBC allows it

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 1, 2024
CHRISTOPHER STEVENS: Remember the Brain Drain, the threat that high taxation was going to drive every competent entrepreneur out of Britain and leave us an island of business boneheads? Well, it happened. The 18 candidates on this year's The Apprentice (BBC1) are so miserably weak that their combined intellects are barely adequate to distinguish one average idiot. Whether you're comparing their words or their vanity, there is no discernible difference between this lot and the vacuous Love Islanders over on ITV2.

The Apprentice is a list of the best candidates on the market today, ranging from boxing gyms and artisan bakeries to dessert parlours and luxury cakes

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 1, 2024
On tonight, the Apprentice's 18th series will be broadcast on BBC1 for its 18th series - but the show's many previous champions have had mixed fates since winning. In 2005, the series began pitting some of the UK's brightest young business minds against each other in order to secure a job with then-Sir Alan Sugar. With the candidates now competing for the Amstrad entrepreneur, now Lord Sugar, the show's winner was redeemed to invest in their company. Mail Online looks back at the previous winners, the company ventures they went on to create, and where they are today.

EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Princess Diana's 'favourite' London restaurant Le Caprice defies rival by reopening

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 31, 2024
DEN CONFIDENTIAL: Richard Caring (left), a member of the City of Clubs, did not reopen the London dining room Le Caprice after Covid lockdowns, think he had pulled off a clever trick by getting a lease on the property, which is just around the corner from The Ritz. However, Caring is planning to cock a snook at King by reopening Le Caprice in a new location. Since Caring still owns Le Caprice, his restaurant will be named Le Caprice. I can say that Caring is in talks to reopen Le Caprice at The Chancery Rosewood, the $1 billion hotel and leisure renovation of the former US Embassy building in Grosvenor Square, Mayfair. The hotel, which is owned by Qatari Diar, is scheduled to open next year. It's going to be interesting to see who will go to Le Caprice and who will go to the old 'Caprice,' a source tells me. When it was on 20 Arlington Street, Princess Diana (right, at the restaurant in 1994) was one of the regular diners at Le Caprice.

In his most dramatic interview yet, Alan Sugar dismisses the TikTok generation's sense of entitlement and claims he has 'nothing' from the Apprentice contestants apart from 'excuses.'

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 19, 2024
Lord Sugar does not want to do this interview. He makes that clear before he's even arrived in the room, growling loudly in the corridor, 'What does this guy want? How long are we giving him?' 'Er, 40 minutes, Lord Sugar,' aide's voice says.' We decided an hour with his people, but His Lordship is still not happy, that's not true. "Oh no.' When half an hour and say I'm missing in the boardroom, I'm ok. He won't know anything different.' I can't hear him.

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 2, 2023
RIATH AL-SAMARRAI: Sir Bradley Wiggins is the subject of an untold tale about him and a wall that dates back to a time long before his name was established into one. It's from a time before Fancy Bears, Jiffy Bags, and legislative hearings, and a long time before his accounts fell into the red, indicating that everything he touched turned to yellow or gold. According to various sources, the incident occurred in Isleworth, west London, not far from where he grew up.

Joe Lewis, Tottenham's no-nonsense boss, had once abandoned a player who was a nuisance on an end-of-season trip and is now fighting for justice amid insider trade allegations

www.dailymail.co.uk, July 26, 2023
MIKE KEEGAN is a member of SPORTS NEWS: Joe Lewis, 85, is 'hands off' when it comes to the club's day-to-day operations, according to Insiders. He is not known as a huge football fan and attends less than one game per season. However, he was at the first game at the new stadium and the 2019 Champions League final. On board Aviva's numerous screens, he likes to watch games. This does not imply that he doesn't have an opinion. Mail Sport has been told that on at least one occasion he called a player at the club to demand that they approach governing bodies and ask them to change the game's rules. Although his precise request could not be identified, it was described as "outlandish" by the author. Vivienne, Lewis' daughter, is particularly keen on what's going on in north London. She watches games on a more regular basis than her father, and she was photographed alongside Levy when Spurs hosted Brighton last season.

Tom Gearing's wine investment firm makes £90 million a year

www.dailymail.co.uk, June 16, 2023
After the Lord expressed reservations about his wine investment, Apprentice actor Tom Gearing missed out on a £250k cash infusion from Alan Sugar in 2012. And 11 years later, the mogul has been proven wrong by announcing that Tom's company, Cult Wines, is now £290 million in fine wine sales, as well as boasting all-star clients. Lord Sugar told Tom of the show, 'Someone of my position in society can't afford to be involved in something that goes wrong.' Don't get me wrong; I've made a lot of mistakes, but this could be a disaster if my name is included in it.'

Lord Sugar's £250k won't necessarily bring about success, according to the new Apprentice winners

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 31, 2023
Both Apprentice winners receive £250,000 investment from Alan Sugar and get his first-year guidance, but new winner Marnie Swindells (pictured with Lord Sugar) is warned that not all of them succeed. Sian Gabbidon, the 2018 series's champion, has put her swimwear business into voluntary liquidation. Gabbidon, 30, founded the company in February 2018, but after deciding to wind up the company, the corporation was halted last month.
