Plans to build a new structure in his garden in Epping have been met with resistance by the ex-West Ham United boss. Officials at Epping Forest District Council have denied Mr Curbishley, 66, twice. According to documents that were in the public domain, the former Hammers boss would like to have an L-shaped building in their back garden that includes an open space, a store, and a garden toilet. Curbishley, an Essex-born player who appeared 85 times for West Ham in a career that lasted only short of two decades, is said to be at a deadlock with the scheme.

He was on the golf course in Mallorca. Shreeves is out of work after 33 years with Sky - most notable as their outstanding touchline interviewer. Chelsea will face Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, but he will not be in the players' tunnel or standing by the Stamford Bridge dugouts. In St Albans, he'll be at home on the sofa. "It's a big change for me and it's left a big hole in my life," Shreeves says.

Alan Curbishley, the former Premier League manager, has sparked a tumultuous discussion with officials over the construction of a massive summerhouse at his Essex home. Since starting to build work in the garden room without planning permission, the ex-West Ham and Charlton boss, 65, has been deemed 'offside.' He needs to erect the outbuilding at the end of his back garden near a shared boundary with his next door neighbor.

MATT BARLOW: Kevin McDonald, an ex-Premier League player, makes a happy return after undergoing a kidney transplant

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 26, 2023
There were more pressing issues than worrying about whether Kevin McDonald would ever play professional football again when he left Fulham under lockout in the summer of 2020. His kidneys were failing and he was in dire need of a transplant, which was a ten-month delay thanks to a donation from his brother Fraser. McDonald scored his first goal in five years on Saturday when playing for Exeter in League One. It's a truly touching tale of recovery and triumph, as well as a slew of emotions for the 34-year-old midfielder just over a week after the birth of his second daughter.

Stevenage 1-1 Charlton (Pens 4-5): Luke Norris' first-half penalty sees League Two side progress

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 8, 2022
MATT BARLOW AT THE LAMEX STADIUM: Charlton came from a sobering loss to Chuks Aneke, but Chuks Aneke revived the tie with a late equalizer and Scott Fraser won it in a penalty shootout. Fraser called off the comeback after Jake Taylor had his penalty saved, and the Addicks made it to the last 16 of the Premier League for the first time since being in charge of Alan Curbishley. When Richard Chin misjudged the flight of a swirling cross and handled the ball, Ben Garner's League One team had fallen behind to a Luke Norris penalty midway through the first half.

MARTIN SAMUEL: Graham Potters' step-up to Chelsea is a victory for all English managers

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 8, 2022
MARTIN SAMUEL – WRITER CHIEF SPORTS WRITER: Jurgen Klopp accepted the Borussia Dortmund job because he did well at Mainz, which was an honor. After success at Bari, Atalanta, and Siena, Antonio Conte was rejected by Juventus. Rafa Benitez's door was opened in Valencia because he has worked with Osasuna, Extremadura, and Tenerife. It's only in England where the elite think our league doesn't count; where a boss can squander away at clubs with no chance of success; and yet another is punished for not being profitable. This is why the Chelsea managerial change is cause for celebration in at least. Graham Potter's work at Brighton, as well as Swansea's, has been acknowledged. Todd Boehly has done English football a service by not only moving for the most popular name - Zinedine Zidane, one imagines.

DANNY MURPHY: Leicester owners must adhere to Brendan Rodgers' advice in order to prevent tragic repercussions

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 4, 2022
DANNY MURPHY: If Leicester City owners lose at Brighton on Sunday, I'd like for them to consider very carefully. Brendan Rodgers' departure will be a knee-jerk reaction with ramifications more damaging to the team than their boss. And if the worst should happen, Rodgers will go on and be prosperous somewhere else because he has demonstrated over many years. However, a makeover for Leicester would be impossible. I say it this way: I have no doubts that Leicester will be relegated now that Brendan is in charge. They may have a hard time without him.
