Thames Water announced that the power supply has now been sorted, but customers will continue to drink water 'across the day' as the company is set to send tankers to'support hospitals and critical infrastructure.' Adam Jacobs, 43, of Isleworth, southwest London, told Sky News he had to rush to the supermarket for bottled water to ensure he had enough for his seven-month-old baby. According to new studies, 156 deaths per year in Scotland on average could have been prevented due to the price change. The research focused on deaths specifically caused by alcohol. However, critics have questioned the findings, arguing that there are no signs that the decrease in deaths after MUP was brought in specifically by the policy. MUP was introduced in Scotland in May 2018 and the price of the cheapest, best booze, such as high strength lager and cider, was raised to a minimum of 50p a unit, aimed at reducing consumption among the country's heavy drinkers.
