The Indiana Pacers pulled off a series upset over the No. 3 seeded Milwaukee Bucks with a Game 6 win Thursday night.  The Pacers had failed to close out the series in Game 5 but finally punched their ticket to the Eastern Conference semifinals with a 120-98 victory over Milwaukee.  The victory could set up another chapter in the bitter rivalry between the Pacers and the Knicks if New York can wrap up their own series against the Philadelphia 76ers later Thursday night. 

Karl-Anthony Towns' NBA playoff picture has been radically altered after the Minnesota Timberwolves announced that he would have surgery next week to fix a meniscus tear in his left knee. According to the team, the All-Star will be out for at least four weeks. At least, the Towns will be out for at least 13 games, the majority of first-place Minnesota's remaining regular-season schedule. However, there is still hope that the 28-year-old will be available when Minnesota enters the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. Towns did not participate in the Wolves' victory over Indiana on Thursday night. Despite this, Minnesota defeated 113-111 on a stunning last-second block by Anthony Edwards, who appeared to ban his head on the rim while denying a last-second layup by the Pacers' Aaron Nesmith.

The NBA's inaugural in-season tournament was won by LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night, potentially the start of a tradition or merely a doomed PR stunt. Even if the NBA Finals are still six months away, the Lakers put on a championship-worthy showing, defeating the upstarting Indiana Pacers, 123-109.
