About Murphy's Romance

Emma moves to a ranch with her son after a divorce and befriends the older Murphy, but things turn complicated when her ex shows up.

About

A newly-divorced woman named Emma moved to Arizona with hopes of making a living by training and boarding horses along with her son Jake. While living there, the single mother is struggling to make ends meet however she meets a man name Murphy, who helps them out financially and emotionally. As everything begins to work out, an unexpected visitor will change everything.

This film was based on the 1980 novella "Murphy's Romance"by Max Schott, however the movie's storyline was altered. The movie grossed over $30,867,525 in box office sales. Actor James Garner received a nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) during the Golden Globes award ceremony in 1986.
