A 26-year-old hairdresser named Rita decide to go to college in hopes of gaining a better future. After enrolling in school at Open University, she meets her English professor a struggling alcoholic named Frank Bryant, who's passion for teaching is revitalized through Rita's enthusiasm for learning.
