For almost a quarter of a century Yvette Fielding has been exploring things that go bump in the night as part of her investigations into the paranormal on the Most Haunted TV series. But although she's had poltergeists hurl objects at her and crew members on the show have been hurt - including her husband Karl Beattie, who produces and directs the shows - Yvette feels blessed to be able to share glimpses of the other side. 'Before I started Most Haunted I was scared of death, I really was,' says the former Blue Peter presenter, 56, whose new book Most Haunted Castles is out now. 'But now I'm not scared of it one bit, because I know 100 per cent that there is life after death. 'I've actually been refused access to my friends' homes though because they think I might bring something spooky into the house,' she laughs. 'But I'm very passionate about the paranormal and I hope to keep doing this for a long time.'

The 'paranormal psychic' who was booted off Most Haunted amid fakery row: How Derek Acorah was dumped by TV ghost-hunting show after he claimed to be 'possessed' by a made-up person - as Yvette Fielding now claims he tried to grope her

The late Derek Acorah has been thrust back into the limelight after his former Most Haunted co-host Yvette Fielding claimed the psychic tried to grope her while pretending to be possessed by a spirit. Acorah, who died aged 69 in 2020 after a sepsis infection following a battle with pneumonia, has been posthumously accused by Fielding of being a 'fake' medium who tried to 'chase' her and 'ram his tongue down my throat'. The former Blue Peter host also claims that Acorah would make sexually explicit remarks, including repeatedly asking to see her breasts. The shocking allegations come almost 20 years after the pair famously fell out over a fakery row over a 2005 episode of Most Haunted in which Acorah appeared to become possessed by an alleged made-up spirit at Bodmin Gaol in Cornwall. Resident parapsychologist Dr Ciaran O'Keeffe later revealed he had set up Acorah by having other crew members feed him false information about spirits in various locations.

The former Blue Peter presenter, 55, recalls how Acorah, who had been drinking, stretched out his arms as if he had been crucified on the cross and proclaimed he was Jesus. 'He then proceeded to chase me round the restaurant and I was batting him away because he was trying to ram his tongue down my throat.' The pair famously fell out when he was uncovered as a fraud during a 2006 episode in Bodmin Jail.

At the time Harris (inset bottom) - dead of cancer last year at 93 - was one of the BBC's biggest stars, and it would be another 25 years before he was unmasked as a sexual predator by Operation Yewtree. TV veteran Yvette - who went on to create Most Haunted - says there was a cover-up culture in the TV industry at the time she started - protecting the likes of Harris and Jimmy Savile (inset top), with whom she says she had a 'grotesque' encounter.
