They include the Muslim festival of Eid in late June and schools' summer in July, marking a dramatic deterioration of the union's bitter conflict with the airport. Last Sunday, a unite ordered 31 days of action by security agents at Britain's biggest airport, with many of the dates falling over weekends in late June, July, and August. John Holland-Kaye, the current Heathrow chief, warns that passenger fares could rise in response to rising costs

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 23, 2023
Heathrow's outgoing chief executive, John Holland-Kaye (pictured left), said that the fact that the west London airport is losing money when airlines return to profitability shows that the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has 'got the pricing wrong.' The CAA's final plans include a cap on Heathrow's average levy per passenger, which dropped from £30.19 last year to £26.31 in 2026. Soon, a decision on the cap will be made. However, increasing the cap could result in tickets becoming more costly, especially if airline bosses choose to forego the additional expense on the customer. Heathrow has reported under-tax loss of £684 million for the last year, compared to losses of £1.3 billion in 2021, as a result of pandemic-era travel restrictions. No dividends were paid in 2022, and none are scheduled for 2023 as it continues to rebuild. The airline industry, on the other hand, is forecast to see its first post-pandemic profit this year, with carriers expected to rake in a collective £3.9 billion in net income in 2023, according to the International Air Transport Association.

The Omicron version's emergence caused the government to reimpose stricter measures on inbound travelers, as well as confusion regarding new border closures in early 2022.
