Vincent James McMahon (July 6, 1914 – May 24, 1984), also known as Vince McMahon Sr., was an American professional wrestling promoter.
He is best known for his leadership of the Capitol Wrestling Federation (WWF) and the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) during his time (1954 to 1982), as the father of Vince McMahon's successor, Vince McMahon.
Early life
Vincent James McMahon was born in Harlem, New York, on July 6, 1914, to Rose (née Davis) and Roderick James "Jess" McMahon, a popular boxing, wrestling, and concert promoter who had worked with legendary Madison Square Garden promoter Tex Rickard. Both of his parents were of Irish descent. Roderick James Jr., his older brother, and Dorothy, his younger sister.
Personal life and death
McMahon III, James James "Rod" McMahon III (October 12, 1943 – January 20, 2022) and Vince McMahon (born August 24, 1945) had two sons with his first wife, Victoria "Vicky" Hanner (July 11, 1920 – January 20, 2021). Juanita Wynne Johnston, McMahon's second wife, married him (December 20, 1916 – January 19, 1998), and the pair moved to Fort Lauderdale. McMahon would not live to see his company grow from a territorial level to a multinational company. McMahon died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 69 on May 24, 1984. In Fort Lauderdale, Florida, McMahon and his wife Juanita are buried at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery.
