The Ukrainian entry Kalush Orchestra (inset) triumphed at the 2022 competition in Turin, Italy, but the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which runs the annual competition, has ruled that the performance cannot be held in the country following Russia's invasion. Following Sam Ryder (right) finishing second in the competition, the 67th Eurovision Song Contest will be hosted in the United Kingdom for the ninth time (more than any other region). The shortlist was narrowed down from 20 UK cities that had expressed an 'expression of interest' when applying to all four regions, with applicants demonstrating how they would represent Ukrainian culture, music, and communities. Six of the seven cities shortlisted, six are in England and one is in Scotland, with Belfast failing to make the cut for Northern Ireland.
