Virastyuk defeated two-time IFSA World Champion Savickas after finishing second in 2005 and third in 2006 in Geumsan, South Korea. With this win, he became the first strongman to win both a World's Strongest Man title and an IFSA World championship. Savickas will be the second man to win the 2009 World's Best Man title in Malta.
In three years (2005, 2006, and 2007, Virastyuk has placed third at the Arnold Strongman Classic, finishing second on each occasion to ydrnas Savickas.' Shevchenko appealed this decision and the Supreme Court of Ukraine reversibly reversed the CEC's decision on May 22, 2021, saying that the CEC had not ensured the discovery of all offenses committing during the election. The CEC launched a new protocol on the results of the poll on May 1921; this time, the results of six polling stations were invalid. According to this report, Virastyuk had gained 14,811 votes, Shevchenko 13,942; and Ruslan Koshulynskiy 13,463. Following Shevchenko's appeal, the Supreme Court canceled this protocol on May 23, 2021. The Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court reversed this decision on June 5, 2021, and ten days later, he received the People's Deputy of Ukraine's oath.
