Erik ten Hag is reportedly set to play Jonny Evans in an unusual position when Man United face Brentford at Old Trafford on Saturday. The under pressure manager will be without five defenders for the Premier League clash as he seeks to avoid a third straight defeat at home in the top flight. Left-backs Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw will miss the match, as will centre-backs Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro.

The Manchester United defender hasn't seen a minute of action since June last year, when he last played for the Netherlands in a Nations League game against Croatia. The last time he lined up for club side United, however, was May 2023, the last game of the Premier League season meaning he missed he entirety of last season. Now 25, he arrived at Manchester United over two years ago with hope that he could add depth to the left back position with constant concerns over Luke Shaw's fitness levels.

Liverpool will reportedly battle it out with Manchester United to sign Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson.  The Red Devils spent more than £200million during the course of a busy summer transfer window but have a number of players facing spells on the sidelines.   Luke shaw is yet to make an appearance this season with a calf injury while his deputy Tyrell Malacia has not played a single match in over a year.

'But the league starts. We can't hide from it. We have to deal with it.' Many of Ten Hag's squad went deep in the Copa America and at Euro 2024 and missed most, if not all, of the pre-season tour of the United States. It means he has had just a handful of training sessions with the squad all together which has given him cause for concern.

CHRIS WHEELER: Tyrell Malacia could be back in action for Manchester United in two months, Erik ten Hag has revealed. The Holland defender was Ten Hag's first signing as United manager following a £14.7million move from Feyenoord two years ago, and made 39 appearances in his first season at Old Trafford. However, Malacia didn't play at all last season due to a double knee surgery, leaving United desperately short at left-back during Luke Shaw's long absences through injury.

As reported by The Sun, Rashford's luxury Range Rover Sport collided with a black Mercedes on July 16 in Wilmslow, Cheshire. Rashford, 26, had been sat in the car behind and his Range Rover was driven by a friend while Dutch defender Malacia was sat in the passenger seat. Both the unnamed friend and Malacia were sent to hospital as a precaution but they were cleared to leave by doctors after avoiding injury. It is believed Rashford was not directly impacted by the smash. A 55-year-old woman, believed to have been behind the wheel of the Mercedes involved in the incident, was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

A Manchester United star has returned to Carrington after not hitting the grass for the entirety of last season. The £15million star had to sit out the whole 2023-24 campaign after a promising first season at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag has hit out at Manchester United fans for having 'no sense of reality' amid their 11-year title drought in an incendiary interview on the day of the club's FA Cup final against Manchester City.  The embattled manager is believed to be heading for the exit at Old Trafford regardless of whether his side triumphs at Wembley on Saturday against their crosstown rivals after two season in charge at the Manchester club.  Ten Hag has been defiant in his stance that he remains in the plans of Man United's new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team since the petrochemicals billionaire took over the running of football operations in February.

The investigation, led by Sports Medicine head Gary O'Driscoll, is underway with the intention of modernizing the club's approach, which will eventually result in a slew of recommendations being submitted by INEOS employees after their 25 percent buyout of the club is approved. The reports come at a time when United's first-team has been crippled by a string of key injuries.

Manchester United's plans for Saturday night's Premier League match against Newcastle United were jeopardized after their flight was postponed. On Saturday morning, Erik ten Hag's crew was scheduled to fly north-east from Manchester Airport at 11 a.m. However, when the passengers arrived at the airport to drop their cars off at 10 a.m., they were told that due to the weather and technical difficulties, their flight was cancelled.

The Holland international has had to undergo a second operation to fix the long-running condition, and he is now recovering at Carrington following a rehabilitation program. Despite suffering an injury while playing for Cameroon, Andre Onana is expected to be fit for Manchester United's Premier League match against Everton on Sunday. In the 3-0 win over Mauritius, the goalkeeper was late, but tests revealed that he sustained an injury to one of his pelvis bones. He was forced to miss the squad against Libya on Tuesday.

SAMI MOKBEL: Since suffering a hamstring injury in the closing stages of United's home loss to Brighton, the right-back has been missing since September 16. But Wan Bissaka has now started training on the grass at the club's training center and is closing down in on a return to fitness. If the final stages of his recovery go according to plan, there is a chance that he will be back in ten days.
