Aaron Nola's strikeout total was up - the Phillies' ace would reach his career high with 12 - and his pitch count was also up. With two outs in the seventh inning and a chance at baseball history still on the line, manager Rob Thomson wasn't sure how much longer he'll let the right-hander go. 'I wouldn't have guessed his health just for that,' Thomson said. On Monday, the Reds' game against the Tampa Bay Rays in Cincinnati at a new low for The Great American Ball Park. Despite Monday's 8-1 win over the Red-hot Rays, the 20-year-old stadium held a record 463 fans for Opening Day on March 30, but conditions have deteriorated since the oldest team in professional baseball has lost to 7-9. The Reds' new record would not be bad on its own, unless the team is coming off a last-place finish at 62-100 in 2022. Fans have chastised Reds owner Bob Castellini and his son, Reds president and CEO Phil Castellini, for their apparent tenacity.
