Adidas has dropped a copyright lawsuit against Black Lives Matter less than 48 hours after launching it, despite fears that the sportswear brand may appear to be racial. In a filing submitted to the US Patent and Trademark Office on Monday, Adidas claimed that the BLM logo was "confusingly similar" to its own logo. However, by Wednesday, the German firm, which is vehemently protective of its brand, had dropped the case after sources told the Reuters that it would have been misconstrued as opposing BLM's values. Following widespread BLM funding in 2020, Adidas donated $20 million to black communities. Patrisse Cullors (inset), Alicia Garza, and Opal Tometi were among BLM's founders who established it in 2013.
