Patrick Vieira, the Premier League's longest serving official and VAR, makes a rare defense of the Premier League and VAR
www.dailymail.co.uk,
October 9, 2022
Patrick Vieira has launched a defence of Premier League officials by saying that people are likely to overlook the 'human' component of decision making. Last Saturday, Vieira was left terribly distraught as Chelsea defender Thiago Silva was dismissed in a shocking handball before going on to assist Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the equalizer in Crystal Palace's 2-1 home loss. Vieira was never shy in expressing his thoughts to referees on the field, but the Palace manager admits that calling for changes in the quality of officiating is difficult, considering that technology still requires human intervention.
After VAR chose not to send Thiago Silva, Patrick Vieira was left reeling

Referee Chris Kavanagh's decision was supported by VAR Stuart Attwell, who found that Ayew was a long way from goal and was heading away from it after disposing Silva. Vieira was suspended for his demonstrations during the game but remained true to himself after the game to prevent any further punishment.
Chelsea Were lucky Thiago Silva wasn't sent off against Crystal Palace, according to Graham Potter

Chelsea might have been down to ten men against Crystal Palace, according to Graham Potter, if a call against Thiago Silva was made the other way. When Chelsea were already behind on Odsonne Edouard's opener in the first half, the 38-year-old Brazilian was trapped on the ball and went to the ground, deliberately blocking the ball from striking out clean through on goal. Referee Chris Kavanagh's yellow card was displayed in the center of the back, and although a VAR investigation was carried out, Silva's punishment went no further, much to Palace manager Patrick Vieira's annoyance.
After a banana was thrown at Richarlison, Brazil captain Thiago Silva says he wants a 'change.'

After a banana was thrown at Richarlison in Brazil's 5-1 friendly win over Tunisia, Thiago Silva has requested that football change its tone toward bigotry. The night at the Parc des Princes was soon overshadowed by the objects thrown at Tottenham striker Richarlison as he commemorated. As many objects were to the pitch, one of which was clearly a banana, he was celebrating having put Brazil 2-1 in front.

How England's main World Cup rivals are shaping up
www.dailymail.co.uk,
September 20, 2022
Brazil, France, Argentina, and Spain are among the favorites alongside England ahead of the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Argentina is undefeated in their last 35 matches, dating back to July 2019. The team claimed their first Copa America title since 1993 last year. Spain has attended every tournament since winning only four World Cups from 1930-74. Qatar will host their 12th World Cup in a row. Brazil has scored 18 goals in their last five games, including five-time champions. They even left the in-form Gabriel Jesus out of their squad this week! France hasn't won any of their last four international matches. They were beaten by Denmark (2-1) and Croatia (1-0) during their poor run. As the tournament draws closer, Sportsmail examines the Three Lions' key 2022 Qatar World Cup rivals.
Chelsea: What problems does Graham Potter have to worry about since being broke?
www.dailymail.co.uk,
September 19, 2022
Graham Potter may have lauded his players in praise, but after Chelsea's humiliating 1-1 draw against Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday night, he may now be aware of the problems to solve. Mason Mount and Raheem Sterling's likes boosted the Blues off to a good start in a fraught first half-hour that may not have featured the opening goal. It was the Sterling who eventually found it just after halftime, curling home a neat finish from inside the box to snap the deadlock, but only for Salzburg to capitalise on a Thiago Silva gaffe and draw level 15 minutes ahead of time. Chelsea was forced to settle for a point, leaving them rooted to the bottom of Champions League Group E, and Potter's draw would have been an eye-opening one.
Chelsea: How Graham Potter has put his stamp on the Blues after RB Salzburg draw in his first game

September 15, 2022
Graham Potter's first game in charge of Chelsea was a frustrating 1-1 draw, but it was quickly apparent that he had wasted no time in deciding on his new team. Potter's tweaks were evident from defensive changes to playing Raheem Sterling in an unfamiliar wing-back role and a hopeful outlook on the sidelines just less than a week into the job. Sportsmail looks at some of the differences in Chelsea on Potter's debut.
Graham Potter did not play it safe against Salzburg, and he still has work to do with Chelsea, so he's risk taking him seriously

ADRIAN KAJUMBA AT STAMFORD BRIDGE: This is if there was ever a time for a manager to play it safe. At Stamford Bridge and in the Champions League, Graham Potter's first game in charge of Chelsea. Chelsea lost in their Group E opener at Dinamo Zagreb, leaving them on the back foot. Only victory would do for the Chelsea tonight. If there is one thing that is abundantly clear about Potter, it is that the safe and convenient option is not really what he does.
Todd Boehly is calling for a Premier League All-Star Game, but who would come out on top?
www.dailymail.co.uk,
September 14, 2022
Since setting a Premier League record of over $270 million in a summer and firing Champions League-winning coach Thomas Tuchel after only seven games, Todd Boehly has already made his mark on English football. Chelsea's new American co-owner isn't finished, and he believes that the Premier League, one of the most valuable and most lucrative tournaments in international football, needs to learn a little bit more from the money-making methods of the American game. In a wide-ranging interview at the SALT conference in New York, the 48-year-old said: 'I hope the Premier League takes a little bit of a lesson from American sports and really starts to figure out, "Why wouldn't we do a tournament with the bottom four teams? Why isn't there an All-Star game?" In the Premier League, you could play a North vs. South All-Star game and then fund whatever the pyramid needed quickly. The league's newfound funding is favored by most.'
Thomas Tuchel was fired after Chelsea's underperforming stars, resulting in his expulsion from Chelsea
www.dailymail.co.uk,
September 11, 2022
Chelsea's evening was another miserable evening for the Chelsea team, after a humiliating 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb as the full whistle blew in Zagreb. We didn't know that this would lead to Thomas Tuchel's brutal dismissal on Wednesday morning after just seven games of the season. Chelsea has lost three away games on the trot, kept only one clean sheet in seven, and looked disjointed as the pressure escalated before the German's services were dispensed with.
Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, and Gabriel Magalhaes, Arsenal's representatives, have been ruled out of Brazil's squad
www.dailymail.co.uk,
September 9, 2022
During this month's international break, Mikel Arteta will have the opportunity to recharge his Brazilian stars, because no one has been called up for friendlies against Ghana and Tunisia. Tite named his squad for the games in France on Friday, but not from early leaders Arsenal. Despite Gabriel Jesus' excellent form for his new club since a £45 million transfer from Manchester City, or centre-half Gabriel Magalhaes, there is no call-up.

Reece James, Wesley Fofana, and Raheem Sterling were among the first Blues players to pay their respects after new coach Todd Boehly sacked him just seven games into the season and 100 days since replacing Roman Abramovich. Chelsea is sixth in the Premier League and have gotten off to a rocky start to their Champions League debut, with Tuchel dismissing them just hours after their humiliating 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb, his 100th match in charge. It was not just those three people who paid their respects to the 2021 Champions League's winning head coach, but goalkeeping team Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy were keen to thank him.

Wesley Fofana, according to Ben Chilwell, has a bright future ahead of him at Chelsea, and he has praised his quick integration into Thomas Tuchel's plans. After winning a £75 million move from Leicester, Defender Fofana made his debut for the Blues in their 2-1 home victory over West Ham on Saturday. Chilwell had worked for Leicester City before being transferred to Chelsea less than two months before Fofana joined the Foxes in October 2020.
GRAEME SOUNES: Todd Boehly's extravagant £300 million spending spree suggests he has no idea how we work
www.dailymail.co.uk,
September 2, 2022
GRAEME SOUNESS: Pini Zahavi, my colleague, had given me one of his executive box seats for Manchester United's Champions League quarterfinal against Real Madrid. I decided not to attend the game, although United's Brazilian Ronaldo starred and lost 4-3, but I decided to get him and some family members over from Manchester Airport anyway. Abramovich, one of them, sat in my passenger seat and mistook me for the chauffeur. It was when someone looked right in the discussion, that was being carried out in Hebrew from the back seat, that he stopped staring out of the left window and actually turned around to acknowledge me.

Chelsea is beginning to look for players in the final days of the transfer window, with center-back Wesley Fofana expected to arrive from Leicester and the club bringing in Josko Gvardiol, a RB Leipzig defender. After the Blues' humiliating 2-1 loss to Southampton on Tuesday night, Tuchel has come under increasing pressure as manager.

DANNY MURPHY: Chelsea have the character and quality to close the gap on Man City
www.dailymail.co.uk,
August 27, 2022
DANNY MURPHY: Chelsea's loss at Leeds last weekend sparked obituary writers who said that the club has already deteriorated under its new owners. The way the win over Leicester with ten men on Saturday suggested to me that this is a team of players who are closely aligned with its boss Thomas Tuchel. I actually believe they will be closer to Manchester City and Liverpool this season than further away. The Leeds game is a one-off and they will be competitive, according to the character and quality. Chelsea seemed to be an extra man on the team at certain times, but Thiago Silva epitomized the team's spirit when they finally had to dig in at the end.
Trevoh Chalobah, a Chelsea defender, has loan offers from Inter, AC Milan, and RB Leipzig

Trevoh Chalobah, Chelsea's defender, has loan offers from Inter and AC Milan, as well as Red Bull Leipzig. During the last season, the 23-year-old made 20 appearances in the Premier League, laying atop his hopes for a starting position with the Blues, but he has yet to play for the club this season. Chalobah has been an unused sub in Chelsea's games against Everton, Tottenham, and Leeds, with Thomas Tuchel preferring Kalidou Koulibaly, Thiago Silva, and Reece James at center-back.

Chelsea's former owner Roman Abramovich has had a tumultuous year since the UK government banned him in March. What ensued was significant speculation about the club's future and a protracted takeover saga that didn't come to an end on May 28 when the Todd Boehly-led consortium announced their purchase of the club on May 28. With the Premier League season ending a week earlier and culminating in Chelsea losing both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on free transfers, the team was left on the back-foot and behind the eight ball ahead of this season.
Is Chelsea target Anthony Gordon worth £60m and how would he fit in at Stamford Bridge?
www.dailymail.co.uk,
August 24, 2022
Chelsea's new era under new owner Todd Boehly was always going to be an exciting one. Would the club continue to spend lavishly as they did when Roman Abramovich was at the helm, or would the purse strings be a little tighter moving forward? With just over a week of the transfer window remaining, Everton's Anthony Gordon did not take long to figure out as the west London outfit splashed out almost £150 million on Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Marc Cucurella Now. Sportsmail has examined his eye-watering price tag, whether he could coerce his way into Thomas Tuchel's orbit, and whether he's really needed at Stamford Bridge.
Thomas Tuchel is the oddly unwilling to praise Leeds for their dominant results
www.dailymail.co.uk,

Chelsea's humiliating 3-0 loss at Elland Road was blamed on a cancelled flight, but Thomas Tuchel denied Leeds any credit for the way they dismantled his team. When goalkeeper Edouard Mendy gave the ball to Brenden Aaronson to score, the Blues fell behind after 33 minutes.

Reece James and Thiago Silva hit out at referee Anthony Taylor after Chelsea's draw with Spurs
www.dailymail.co.uk,
August 15, 2022
Referee Anthony Taylor and his staff were both chastised after Chelsea's 2-2 draw at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. Reece James and Thiago Silva have slammed Reece James and Thiago Silva. Kalidou Koulibaly's well-struck goal in the first half was called off by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg midway through the second half, who was dissatisfied. Kai Havertz appeared to be fouled by Rodrigo Bentancur in the build-up, while Richarlison was offside during a Hojbjerg shot, but neither of these resulted in Taylor and his crew's decision to reverse the goal.
