A fundraising appeal for the bronze statue, which is to be installed in Jones's hometown of Colwyn Bay, North Wales, was launched today by fellow Pythons Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam . The statue will show Jones as a character from the irreverent 1970s' comedy show and although the precise one has yet to be chosen, the nude organist is understood to be a firm favourite with fans and even his close family. Palin and Gilliam visited Colwyn Bay to officially start the 'A Python On The Prom' Go Fund Me campaign - organised in partnership with Jones's children, Sally and Bill Jones, and the Conwy Arts Trust, a Conwy-based charity supporting the arts in North Wales. After strolling along the promenade to the town's new pier, close to where the statue is set to be located, Palin said of the organist suggestion: 'So many statues are boring and serious. This would put a smile on peoples' faces.'

Who were the 48 Stardust nightclub fire victims? Remembering the young people who died in the tragic blaze in Dublin in 1981
www.dailymail.co.uk,
April 18, 2024
The deaths of 48 people in the worst fire in the history of Ireland were today ruled by a jury as unlawful killing. The devastating blaze broke out at the Stardust nightclub in Artane, north Dublin, in the early hours of Valentine's Day 1981. The club was packed with around 800 people before tragedy struck, claiming the lives of a staggering 48, and injuring over 200. Immediately following the fire, an inquiry found that the likely cause of the fire was arson on account of someone setting light to a chair near the venue's ballroom - a move that appeared to blame the fire on those that had attended the disco on the fateful night. However, the ruling was dismissed in 2009 and a victims' committee worked relentlessly to get a renewed inquiry into the cause of the inferno.
Why Monty Python has ALWAYS been at war for money: They have yelled insults at daughters and wives over the years, with some of them yelling in never-ending financial warfare. Eric Idle, a billionaire, now claims he is penniless

There are a lot of comic geniuses around the world. Few people would disagree that Monty Python, the troupe behind TV's most bizarre sketch show, was all brilliant on their own. They may be the most academically educated comedians in history with a total IQ of over 1,000. John Cleese holds a law degree from Cambridge University. In Los Angeles, Terry Gilliam studied physics, political science, and fine art. Michael Palin, Eric Idle, the late Terry Jones, and Graham Chapman were among the others who graduated from Oxbridge. Despite this, they don't appear to have a business brain cell between them. With Palin as the exception, perhaps their track of financial mismanagement, legal troubleshool, and hapless investments are beyond belief.

Eric Idle, one of the original six comedians, admitted last week that he still has to'work for a living' at the age of 80 after only receiving £2,000 per series from the BBC. Despite being compelled to sell his house in the Hollywood Hills, the actor was compelled to sell his house, but he still has to go out to make a living. And it is not only Idle who has been left struggling to maintain his Hollywood lifestyle. When the comedians reunited with John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin for their reunion tour in 2013, they needed the funds. Palin said 'Python wasn't earning much.'
As enraged neighbors blasted it as a "abomination," a man slammed for ripping up the lawn at his £550k house and paving over his garden to create a CAR PARK

Miteshkumar Patel, 45, denounced planning conditions and paved over his entire front garden, transforming it into a seven-space parking garage outside his Southampton, Hampshire home. Mr Patel was allowed to convert his garage into a separate two-bedroom house in 2021 as long as he maintained green landscaping. However, the businessman dug up his lawn and chopped down a tree to begin the double drive way, causing locals to yell. Despite councillors' comments that he had violated the rules, Southampton Council accepted his request for amended planning permission. "We thought it was an abomination," one neighbor told MailOnline, "We thought it was an abomination." They've ruined it.' We thought it was all wrong, but what will you do if the council has overruled you?'

According to Gillian Catchpole, 45, who was suspended by a ligature at her home in Whitminster last Friday morning, the area was Gloucestershire Coroner Roland Wooderson. After hearing that a pathologist had provisionally provided the cause of death as a result of a ligature suspension, Mr Wooderson officially opened an inquest into Gillian Mary Catchpole's death and postponed it until a date to be determined. The coroner was told that samples were obtained from her body for toxicological analysis. Mr Wooderson said Ms Catchpole, who was born on July 19, 1978, was discovered by her husband, James Morrison Catchpole, in his house last Friday after he had been called by a friend who couldn't get inside but could not gain access.

Scenes from Life of Brian and the Holy Grail were nearly scrapped from Monty Python gags that were ALMOST cut: Scenes from Life of Brian and the Holy Grail were almost deleted from Life of Brian and the Holy Grail
www.dailymail.co.uk,
June 9, 2023
According to the movie's editor, some of Monty Python's most popular film scenes, including the Black Knight, were almost cut - because the actors thought they were "too silly, dull, or offensive." Several of Python's iconic moments, including Big Ben Dickus, were almost cancelled out of fear of being funny, according to Julian Doyle. Together with Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin, he worked on Life Of Brian, The Meaning Of Life, and The Holy Grail. He said that some of the films' most memorable scenes had almost never made the screen due to questions of taste, money, speed, and humour. Doyle expressed reservations that the Front Crack Suicide Squad from Life Of Brian would annoy Jewish viewers, according to Doyle.
A man who spent £25,000 on a road sign to a fake airport before deciding against it removes it from the board, drives up a new billboard

Following a crowdfunding effort, Nicholas Whitehead took down the 20-year old spoof sign near Crossgates last November and installed a new one up to the east of the village's east. It has been placed on property outside the Richards family farm near Llandegley, where it can stay permanently. The billboard directs morotists to Terminal 1 and 3 of Llandegley International along the A44 in Powys, between Rhayader and Kington. But those who follow it are directed to a field on the outskirts of Llandegley, which is two-and-a-half miles away.

Brendan Fraser makes a convincing argument for an Oscar: The Whale bribes Brendan Fraser (BRIAN VINER) looks at the Whale

BRIAN VINER: Morbid obesity is nothing funny, but on screen, Terry Jones' portrayal of comedy as Mr Creosote in Monty Python's The Meaning Of Life (1983) lumbers come to mind. Hugely obese characters also appear in horror and fantasy films, but it is not often that you find one as the protagonist in a love story. The Whale by Darren Aronofsky isn't a traditional love tale - it isn't a conventional thing - but it is about love nonetheless, both destructive and redemptive. Charlie (Brendan Fraser) weighs more than 40 pounds and is not just housebound but also practically chair bound. He is a middle-aged scholar who teaches creative writing online from his apartment in Idaho but is so overwhelmed by his colossal size that he can't get to the front door without a walking frame.

Bo Bruce's inheritance controversy over her mother's inheritance is just one of several high-profile cases to make headlines recently. And these multimillion-pound family tragedies don't affect only the wealthy and famous, as Hattie Crisell finds. Lady Catherine Bruce - better known to fans of TV talent show The Voice as a celebrity - won a decade-long inheritance case against her brother, Thomas James Brudenell-Bruce, Viscount Savernake, just under a year ago. The high-profile contest ignited considerable public interest, not least because it resembled a Jane Austen novel's plot. Rosamond, Bo and Thomas' mother, died in 2012 and her Wiltshire estate was divided in equal shares.

Serena Prest (left), 56, was discovered dead in the garden of Eyeford House (right), Upper Slaughter, Gloucestershire, by her husband Rupert on the morning of June 6 last year. Roland Wooderson, the assistant county coroner, had to call it to an end. The early twentieth century Cotswolds home England's favorite house out of a 150-strong field was named by a judging panel in 2011 because they felt it was 'the quintessential country house for many generations.' Mrs Prest, whose full name was Joanna Alice Serena, inherited the house from her mother Charlotte Heber-Percy, who in turn inherited it from her father Sir Cyril Kleinwort. Rupert Prest, who did not attend the inquest, said they married in 1993 and Serena suffered from mental illness, and they were on antidepressants for many years. Mr Prest said he felt it would be best to conceal the keys to the family's firearms cabinet, but it seemed that somehow his wife had discovered them.
Man who spent £25,000 on sign giving directions to fake airport in Wales is bringing joke to an end

Since being first erected by Nicholas Whitehead near the rural village of Powys in 2002, a billboard pointing to Llandegley International has become a landmark. Around Rhayader and Kington, motorists traveling east along the A44 are met with signs pointing to Terminals 1 and 3 of the imaginary airport. However, the signs pointed to a field on the outskirts of Llandegley, which is two-and-a-half miles away. After a 'wild talk' with friends one evening, Mr Whitehead, a journalist who once wrote for Monty Python's Terry Jones, spent £25,000 on the sign two decades ago.
