Sylvia Hatchell Life

Sylvia Rhyne Hatchell (born February 28, 1952) is a retired American women's basketball coach who spent most of her career with Chapel Hill University, fourth behind former Tennessee coach Pat Summitt, Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer, and UConn coach Geno Auriemma.

Hatchell and three assistants were suspended on administrative leave after allegations of racially insensitive remarks and obliging players to play when injured.

On April 18, 2019, she resigned as North Carolina's head coach.
