US gymnastics has rallied around Kayla DiCello after she suffered a ruptured Achilles at the Olympics Trials on Friday night. DiCello hit the floor and shook her head after landing on the mats following a double tuck on her vault routine - her first event of the trials. The 20-year-old, a world bronze medalist, was tipped to secure one of the final spots this summer. Instead Simone Biles will head to Paris alongside Jordan Chiles, Sunisa Lee, Jade Carey and Hezly Rivera, with Joscelyn Roberson and Leanne Wong  travelling alternates.

Simone Biles , the most decorated gymnast in US history, has agreed to compete at the US Classic on May 18. Along with the US Championships and the Olympic trials, the event is one of three major mileposts on the road to the 2024 Paris Games. This year's Classic will take place in Hartford on May 17-19. Reigning Olympic all-around gymnastics champion Sunisa Lee had been the headliner of the initial draw prior to Biles' enrolment.

Sunisa Lee, the American gymnast who won gold in the Tokyo Olympics, has spoken out about how a kidney disease aided her weight gain this year. The 20-year-old, who is on track to compete in the Paris Games next summer and is the reigning Olympic all-round champion, was speaking to USA Today about the unspecified illness. My eyes were swollen shut because I couldn't fit into any of my clothes.' It was just so scary,' she said.
