Life
Sue Williamson was born in 1941 in Lichfield, England. She and her family immigrated to South Africa in 1948. She attended the Art Students League of New York from 1963 to 1965. She received her Advanced Diploma in Fine Art from the Michaelis School of Fine Art in Cape Town in 1983. She received the Visual Arts Research Award from the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., in 2007, and the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Creative Arts Fellowship in 2011. She was a guest curator of the Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern in 2013.
