A number of lawsuits and allegations against the school district have surfaced following Jonathan Lewis' deadly beating this month, alleging that bullying had failed to prevail over rife. At least four lawsuits have been filed in recent years alleging that it ignored its legislative obligation to investigate and report bullying incidents, as well as troubling allegations from the district's own police department that it has specifically denied allegations from children and parents. Two lawsuits have been brought against the district this year alone, including one brought against former teacher and convicted child molter Jonathan Cronin. According to DailyMail.com, a former educator and her child were coerced into stopping their bullying allegations, while another resident branded the CCSD leadership'mob-like." Residents have been furious after Lewis' harrowing deadly beating earlier this month, although they insist it is only the tip of the iceberg after years of skepticism over the CCSD's lack of response. Lewis' suicide has also reminded people of the CCSD's reaction to Haillee Lamberth's suicide in 2013 when the girl's death was blamed on the child rather than the bullying she suffered at school.
