Arsenal fans were furious during Saturday's game against Leicester when Wilfred Ndidi avoided a second yellow card despite clearly kicking the ball away. The incident occurred in the 35th minute after Bukayo Saka had been fouled by Stephy Mavididi.  Ndidi - who had been booked four minutes earlier for fouling Riccardo Calafiori - then jogged over to the ball and kicked it past Saka and off the pitch. This was similar to an incident which resulted in Leandro Trossard being sent off away at Manchester City last weekend. Gunners midfielder Declan Rice has also received a second yellow card this season for kicking the ball away and 'delaying the restart' - something referees were instructed to clamp down on over the summer.

For a third successive game, the Toffees started in style, took the lead but then retreated, invited pressure and eventually threw away the win. What could have been three wins - which would have them seventh in the table - has transpired as a single point on the board. Leaders Leicester missed the chance to move clear at the top of the Championship as they suffered a shock 1-0 defeat away to relegation-threatened Plymouth, thanks to Mustapha Bundu's 21st-minute winner. Second-placed Ipswich remain level on points with the Foxes, with Leeds a point further back ahead of their games on Saturday with all three clubs currently having four matches left. Managerless Argyle climbed to 16th on the back of their first home win in seven, under the caretaker management team of director of football Neil Dewsnip and first-team coach Kevin Nancekivell and now sit five points clear of the bottom three.

Leicester's hopes of bouncing back to the Premier League are edging closer - all they have to do is try to win their remaining six games amid pressure from both Ipswich and Leeds.  The Foxes travel to Millwall in midweek in what will be a tough fixture against a team fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table.  Enzo Maresca's men head to the Den in form, thanks to back to back wins against Norwich and Birmingham - following a 2-2 draw at Hull last month.

Birmingham City was on the verge of winning a point until Stephy Mavididi's late header claimed the spoils. Maresca will be keenly aware that his team must become more coordinated or risk losing their position at the top of the table, which was regained due to defeats for rivals Ipswich and Leeds. In the 4-2 FA Cup victory over Leicester, Mauricio Pochettino has responded to the boos that rang out at Stamford Bridge as he replaced Raheem Sterling to full time. Chelsea bounced back from losing a 2-0 lead to defeat the Championship high-flyers and secure a spot in the FA Cup draw, with two goals in added time to seal the victory. They lost their shape when O'Hare equalized, and they could not stop the flow even after the dam burst.

TAMARA PRENN DAYSTON KING POWER STADIUM: As they cruised past bottom-half scorers Huddersfield, Enzo Maresca's rampant Leicester side had no sign of a hangover. The Foxes' undefeated run to ten games in December, a record unmatched since the 2015-16 Premier League-topping season. Leicester is now 10 points clear at the top of the Championship table, with hopes of smashing the league's record of 106 points boosted after goals from Riso Pereira, Stephy Mavididi, and debutant Tom Cannon capped a good showing.

WONDERS OF THE PYRAMID: Just like that, we're now in the second half of the Championship season, with tables starting to get more organized, but there is a lot more to play for. With Leicester leading Ipswich Town by six points after the two shared a point each in their Boxing Day blockbuster brawl at Portman Road, the battle for supremacy is heating up. With Southampton chasing down the front-runners just five points behind the Tractor Boys, they will have to look in their rear-view mirrors, with fellow recently promoted Leeds not far behind either.

Ipswich revived a pivotal point in stoppage time, just as it appeared that Stephy Mavididi had denied Leicester to a nine-point lead at the top of the Championship. Sam Morsy, the captain of Ipswich, exemplified his team's indefatigable spirit to charge into the Leicester area in the 93rd minute to shoot the head of unlucky defender Jannik Vestergaard in a cruel manner. Though second-placed Ipswich was swept away by Leeds in a 4-0 demolition at Elland Road on Saturday, the leaders were still competitive against Leicester, but they were thwarted until late in the game due to the leaders' fitness and speed.

On Boxing Day, championship champion Leicester will face the in-form Foxes at Portman Road in their biggest challenge yet. Kieran McKenna's side suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss to promotion rivals Leeds before Christmas, falling six points behind Leicester in the Championship championship battle. Enzo Maresca has now led the Foxes to five victories in their last five matches, including Championship cellar dwellers Rotherham, who have been eliminated before Christmas.
