Angry Arsenal fans fume at Premier League 'hypocrisy' after Leicester midfielder Wilfred Ndidi AVOIDS a second yellow card for kicking the ball away just a week after Leandro Trossard walked for similar offence

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 28, 2024
Arsenal fans were furious during Saturday's game against Leicester when Wilfred Ndidi avoided a second yellow card despite clearly kicking the ball away. The incident occurred in the 35th minute after Bukayo Saka had been fouled by Stephy Mavididi.  Ndidi - who had been booked four minutes earlier for fouling Riccardo Calafiori - then jogged over to the ball and kicked it past Saka and off the pitch. This was similar to an incident which resulted in Leandro Trossard being sent off away at Manchester City last weekend. Gunners midfielder Declan Rice has also received a second yellow card this season for kicking the ball away and 'delaying the restart' - something referees were instructed to clamp down on over the summer.

Leicester 1-1 Everton: Toffees throw away ANOTHER lead after Stephy Mavididi equaliser but hold on for first point of the season

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 21, 2024
LEWIS STEELE AT THE KING POWER STADIUM: Sean Dyche had seen this film before - and although the ending was slightly better than his last two sittings, the Everton boss will be sick to death of the same old storyline. For a third successive game, the Toffees started in style, took the lead but then retreated, invited pressure and eventually threw away the win. What could have been three wins - which would have them seventh in the table - has transpired as a single point on the board. Stephy Mavididi struck a 74th-minute equaliser to cancel out Iliman Ndiaye's early opener in what was a rain-soaked, scrappy affair at the King Power Stadium that prompted boos from all four corners.

Crystal Palace 2-2 Leicester: Jean-Philippe Mateta's late penalty rescues a point for Eagles after goals by Jamie Vardy and Stephy Mavididi

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 14, 2024
ALEX JENNINGS AT SELHURST PARK: It has been a fortnight of points salvaged and points spurned for Leicester. A win in the courtroom was minutes away from being followed up by a win on the pitch. But while the Foxes' lawyers showed no lack of cunning or nouse in winning their case against the Premier League and avoiding a widely expected points deduction for financial irregularities by squeezing through a loophole, their players couldn't quite muster the same level of savviness at Selhurst Park. They had put in the hard yards, too. Leicester were the better side in the first half. Wilfred Ndidi was the best player on the pitch by a distance. Jamie Vardy rolled back the years. They went 2-0 up - through Vardy and Stephy Mavididi - and it wasn't undeserved.

Leicester's top flight promotion party is set for a nasty hangover as points deductions and player sales loom... but Enzo Maresca deserves huge credit for reviving their spirit

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 28, 2024
TOM COLLOMOSSE: Even the sweetest champagne can cause a painful hangover and despite regaining their Premier League status, Leicester City may all too soon experience the morning after the night before. A season that could end with 100 points and the Championship title is cause for much celebration, but the problem is that the euphoria may not last too long.

Can Leicester return to the top of the Championship? The Foxes are 1/2 favourites with Sky Bet to return to winning ways and beat play-off hopefuls West Brom

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 19, 2024
The Championship promotion race is in full swing with Ipswich Town, Leicester City, Leeds United and Southampton, all in the hunt of a return to the Premier League via a top two finish. It certainly marks a considerable difference from mid February when Leicester were running away with the league, eight points clear of Leeds, 14 from Southampton and 18 ahead of Ipswich Town. Yet, just five points cover Ipswich in first to Southampton in fourth. Leicester are one point below Ipswich with a game-in-hand, and could go top with a draw in Saturday's early kick-off against West Brom.

Plymouth Argyle 1-0 Leicester City: Mustapha Bundu's goal lifts the hosts up the Championship table, as Enzo Maresca's side suffer more misery with back-to-back defeats

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 12, 2024
Leaders Leicester missed the chance to move clear at the top of the Championship as they suffered a shock 1-0 defeat away to relegation-threatened Plymouth, thanks to Mustapha Bundu's 21st-minute winner. Second-placed Ipswich remain level on points with the Foxes, with Leeds a point further back ahead of their games on Saturday with all three clubs currently having four matches left. Managerless Argyle climbed to 16th on the back of their first home win in seven, under the caretaker management team of director of football Neil Dewsnip and first-team coach Kevin Nancekivell and now sit five points clear of the bottom three.

Leicester star Stephy Mavididi to have 2+ shots on target against Millwall is BOOSTED to 3/1... with the Championship leaders huge 7/10 favourites with Sky Bet

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 9, 2024
Leicester's hopes of bouncing back to the Premier League are edging closer - all they have to do is try to win their remaining six games amid pressure from both Ipswich and Leeds.  The Foxes travel to Millwall in midweek in what will be a tough fixture against a team fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table.  Enzo Maresca's men head to the Den in form, thanks to back to back wins against Norwich and Birmingham - following a 2-2 draw at Hull last month.

Leicester 2-1 Birmingham: The Foxes' return to the top of the Championship table, with Stephy Mavididi as the late winner, although the prospect of relegation looms for visitors

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 6, 2024
AT KING POWER STADIUM: JAMES SHIELD: Leicester boss Enzo Maresca won this crucial game due to his team's persistence in what could be a pivotal afternoon in the fight for automatic promotion. Birmingham City was on the verge of winning a point until Stephy Mavididi's late header claimed the spoils. Maresca will be keenly aware that his team must become more coordinated or risk losing their position at the top of the table, which was regained due to defeats for rivals Ipswich and Leeds. Jay Stansfield, the Blues' top goalscorer, had earlier cancelled-out Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's opener.

Leicester 3-1 Norwich: Stephy Mavididi plays at the King Power with a goal and an assist when the Foxes return from a miserable month to a position at the top of the Championship table

NORWICH - LEICESTER 3-1. NORWICH STEELE AT THE KING POWER STADIUM NORWICH HELDERS CHOOSES: Stephy Mavididi, a young buck let go by Arsenal's academy as a youth, received a letter from Gunners legend Thierry Henry with tips on how to fulfill his desire to be a Premier League footballer. It read, "Be brave, believe in yourself." Mavididi's journey has been a long way up to the top, with loans in the Football League and training alongside Cristiano Ronaldo when at Juventus' Under 23 team. However, Henry Woods was sent by Henry to Dijon, France, and he hasn't looked back since. Since joining Montpellier and soon could fulfill his Premier League aspirations, he is now an integral part of Enzo Maresca's Leicester side. The Foxes were aided by a goal and assist in halting the rot of a horrific month for which they lost just one of the previous six games.

WONDERS OF THE PYRAMID: Who gets promoted to the Premier League, which teams make the play-offs and who's going down? The big questions answered ahead of a Championship Easter feast

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 29, 2024
LEWIS STEELE: The Championship is back for another jam-packed Easter season, with some teams making or breaking a team's promotion campaign, while others relegating for points in order to prevent dreaded relegation. Leicester won 13 games in the first 14 games back in the second tier after their fairytale era ended with relegation. However, the Championship is a marathon, not a sprint, and the Foxes have faltered, not a sprint.

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 17, 2024
In the 4-2 FA Cup victory over Leicester, Mauricio Pochettino has responded to the boos that rang out at Stamford Bridge as he replaced Raheem Sterling to full time. Chelsea bounced back from losing a 2-0 lead to defeat the Championship high-flyers and secure a spot in the FA Cup draw, with two goals in added time to seal the victory. In the first half, Marc Cucurella and Cole Palmer netted, with Axel Disasi own goal and Stephy Mavididi's spectacular solo effort, making it 2-2 before Carney Chukwueme and Noni Madueke struck in extra time.

Chelsea lost four-2 to Leicester, with penalty-missing Raheem Sterling and a bizarre 30-yard own goal. Chelsea, on the other hand, will travel to Wembley Stadium. Carney Chukwuemeka and Noni Madueke's stoppage-time strikes save the day

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 17, 2024
Chelsea defeated Leicester twice in extra time to prevent a Leicester comeback as Chelsea progressed to the FA Cup semi-finals. After a spectacular penalty error from Raheem Sterling, Marc Cucurella had opened the scoring in the 13th minute, with the in-form Cole Palmer doubling the lead in added time of the first half. Despite being 2-0 down at the break, the Foxes fought back to form by 62 minutes, with Axel Disasi throwing the ball into the back of his own net before Stephy Mavididi made it 2-2 with a spectacular solo effort.

Leicester 3-1 Swansea: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall plays a key role for Foxes in the Championship Championships as the Welsh side takes the lead

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 30, 2024
When Championship champion Leicester Leicester led Leicester by 10 points clear of the chasing pack, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was the standout performer. In a match sealed by Stephy Mavididi's second-half penalty and a goal soon after, the midfielder, a £30 million-rated transfer target of Brighton, began scoring. In the third minute, Dewsbury-Hall was struck after Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen had denied Jerry Yates a shock Swansea opener.

Coventry 3-1 Leicester: Callum O'Hare scores twice as Sky Blues fight back to earn memorable derby win over 10-man Championship leaders

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 13, 2024
TOM COLLOMOSSE AT CBS ARENA: A chink in the armour? Leicester has been nailed on to make an immediate return to the Premier League, but they must now show that this is not the start of a nightmare. Even with ten men, Enzo Maresca's Championship champions seemed to be edging to another victory thanks to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's first-half penalty. It all fell apart in the last ten minutes, as Callum O'Hare struck twice - either side of Milan van Ewijk's goal - to win Coventry a memorable victory. Leicester would point to the straight red card shown to Abdul Fatawu in the first half stoppage time, but really, it was a mess of their own creation. They lost their shape when O'Hare equalized, and they could not stop the flow even after the dam burst.

Leicester takes the lead at the top of the Championship table in the new year thanks to Tom Cannon's full debut

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 1, 2024
TAMARA PRENN DAYSTON KING POWER STADIUM: As they cruised past bottom-half scorers Huddersfield, Enzo Maresca's rampant Leicester side had no sign of a hangover. Leicester is now 10 points clear at the top of the Championship table, with hopes of smashing the league's record of 106 points boosted after goals from Riso Pereira, Stephy Mavididi, and debutant Tom Cannon capped a good showing.

Leicester may have the best squad in Championship history, but Rotherham are up against it... with a full slate of games on Friday, WONDERS OF THE PYRAMID tests the waters in the second class

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 29, 2023
WONDERS OF THE PYRAMID: Just like that, we're now in the second half of the Championship season, with tables starting to get more organized, but there is a lot more to play for. With Leicester leading Ipswich Town by six points after the two shared a point each in their Boxing Day blockbuster brawl at Portman Road, the battle for supremacy is heating up. With Southampton chasing down the front-runners just five points behind the Tractor Boys, they will have to look in their rear-view mirrors, with fellow recently promoted Leeds not far behind either.

Ipswich 1-1 Leicester: Jannik Vestergaard's own goal gives the hosts a point after Stephy Mavididi had fired pacesetting Foxes ahead

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 26, 2023
Ipswich revived a pivotal point in stoppage time, just as it appeared that Stephy Mavididi had denied Leicester to a nine-point lead at the top of the Championship. Sam Morsy, the captain of Ipswich, exemplified his team's indefatigable spirit to charge into the Leicester area in the 93rd minute to shoot the head of unlucky defender Jannik Vestergaard in a cruel manner. Though second-placed Ipswich was swept away by Leeds in a 4-0 demolition at Elland Road on Saturday, the leaders were still competitive against Leicester, but they were thwarted until late in the game due to the leaders' fitness and speed.

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 26, 2023

Enzo Maresca has now led the Foxes to five victories in their last five matches, including Championship cellar dwellers Rotherham, who have been eliminated before Christmas.

TOM COLLOMOSSE AT THE KING POWER STADIUM: Leicester City pushed for a prompt return to the Premier League after losing 3-1 to Birmingham City. As the Foxes extended their lead at the top of the table to three points, Stephy Mavididi and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored a three-point victory. Hundreds of thousands of visiting Leicester supporters were raving about promotion for the second time.
