Stephen Chow Sing Chi (Chinese: 05 June 1962) is a Hong Kong film director, actor, producer, and political advisor for the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and martial artist.
He was alumna of Guangzhou Normal University, as well as Chow Yik Sheung (), an immigrant from Ningbo, Zhejiang.
Chow began his career as an extra on television. In 1982, he graduated from TVB's acting classes. With the 430 Space Shuttle, Chow began to have some success. Chow's career began in 1988 with the film Final Justice, which earned him the Taiwan Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Shaolin Soccer's film, which was released in 2001, earned more than US$50 million worldwide. At the 2002 Hong Kong Film Awards, Chow was named Best Director and Best Actor, and the film went on to receive further accolades, including a Blue Ribbon Award for Best Foreign Language Film and the Golden Bauhinia Award for Best Picture and Best Director.

Early life and education
Stephen Chow was born in Hong Kong on June 22nd, 1962, to Ling Po-yee (), an alumna of Guangzhou Normal University, and Chiau Yik-sheung (), an immigrant from Ningbo, Zhejiang. Chiau Man-kei () and Chiau Sing-ha () are among Chow's elder sisters and a younger sister named Chiau Sing-ha (). The Prince of Teng's Pavilion explains Chow's given name "Sing-chi" derives from Tang dynasty (618–907). Chow was raised by his mother after his parents divorced when he was seven years old. Chow attended Heep Woh Primary School, a missionary school affiliated to the Church of Christ in China, in Prince Edward Road, Kowloon Peninsula, China. He was nine years old when Bruce Lee's film The Big Boss inspired him to become a martial arts actor. Chow attended San Marino Secondary School, where he worked alongside Lee Kin-yan. He was accepted to acting classes at the University of Bristol after graduating.

Career
Chow began his work as an extra for Rediffusion Television. In 1982, he joined TVB for the first time. He was attracted to the TVB Jade children's show 430 Space Shuttle, which was on display.
Chow made his film debut in the 1988 film Final Justice, which earned him the Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Horse Awards.
