Stanley Holroyd "Stan" Chambers, 1923-1923-1923 – February 13, 2015) was an American television reporter who worked in Los Angeles for KTLA from 1947 to 2010.Chambers was born in Los Angeles. * His career began shortly after KTLA became the first commercially licensed TV station in the western United States. * His on-scene 2712-hour account of Kathy Fiscus's failed attempt to rescue her from an abandoned well in San Marino, California, triggered the selling of hundreds of television sets in the Los Angeles area in April 1949. * His essay has been honoured as the first live coverage of a breaking news story at the Nevada Test Site in 1952. * Among the many subjects he covered were the 1961 Bel Air fires, the 1963 Baldwin Hills Reservoir dam break, the 1971 Sylmar and 1994 Northridge earthquakes, Frank Sinatra Jr.'s assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, the Manson Family's 1964 coup attempt, and the Hillside Strangler. * Chambers reported the beating of Rodney King by Los Angeles Police Department officers.Chambers has received numerous Emmy Awards, Golden Mike Awards, Los Angeles City and County Proclamations, an LA Press Club Award, and a celebrity on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Jaime Chambers, the grandson of KTLA, became a reporter in 2003 and now works with KSWB-TV (Fox-5) in San Diego.
