SHARRON DAVIES: But, I'd already knew I'd somehow been cheated of a gold back in 1980. And now, all these years, there are times when the injustice of it all creeps up and kicks me in the teeth. Every time I see Sharron Davies as a "silver lady," and every time I watch a video of the race, it comes back to haunt me. And though Becky Adlington, another swimmer, won the 2008 Olympics, I couldn't help but weep when it was announced as the first Olympic swimming gold for a British woman since 1960. That should have been me. It was me because Olympic rules require that anyone caught cheating be disqualified. However, this is not what happened, not in any way or form, as I'll explain later.
