Shawn Johnson Life

Shawn Machel Johnson East (born January 19, 1992) is an American former gymnast.

She is the 2008 Olympic balance beam gold medalist and team, as well as an all-around and floor exercise silver medalist.

Johnson is also a five-time Pan American Games gold medalist, winning the team and 2011 titles, as well as in the all-around, uneven bars, and balance beam in 2007. Johnson became a member of the United States.

In 2007, the senior team was assembled.

She had one of the best rookie seasons ever recorded in gymnastics, winning the all-around at the American Cup, Pan American Games, the United States National Championships, and the World Championships in her first year as a senior gymnast.

She is the 2007 individual all-around World Champion, 2007 World Champion on floor exercises, and a member of the 2007 gold medal winning U.S. gymnastics team.

The 2008 US emperor, as well as being the 2007 world champion on balance beam and floor exercises, is also known for its 2007 U.S. Defibrillation.

Johnson, the emperor of floor exercise and a silver medalist on balance beam, is a three-time United States emperor.

She was a champion both as a youth and twice as a senior. On June 3, 2012, Johnson announced her retirement from gymnastics. Johnson was the champion of season eight of Dancing with the Stars in May 2009, and she earned second place on the all-star cast in November 2012.

Early and personal life

Johnson was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and the niece of Doug and Teri Johnson. Since she noticed her climbing cabinets and leaping off tables, her parents enrolled her in a gymnastics class at age 3. When Johnson opened a gymnastics academy in West Des Moines at age 6, he was one of Liang Chow's first students, and he'd continue to mentor Johnson for almost two decades as a competitive gymnast. "We've been with each other for so long," Johnson said in 2012.

Johnson attended Valley High School. She was on the honor roll and loved to attend football games and dances. Johnson led a more balanced life in 2008 than was typical among elite female gymnasts. She limited her gymnastics training to 25 hours a week rather than the more typical 40 hours.

In the spring of 2009, Johnson left public school for the first time. Before appearing on Dancing with the Stars, she and her mother relocated to Los Angeles, California. She completed high school with a private tutor in 2010. She enrolled at Vanderbilt University in 2013, but she had to cancel before classes began.

Johnson is married to Andrew East, a professional football long snapper who played for the Washington Redskins in 2018. They were married in Franklin, Tennessee, on July 24, 2015, during a Chicago Cubs game. They live in Nashville, Tennessee.

She revealed that she suffered from an eating disorder in 2008 during the 2008 Olympics in November. She admitted that she only used to eat about 700 calories per day.

Johnson appeared to be pregnant on YouTube in October 2017, but she suffered from a miscarriage. Johnson and her husband revealed in April 2019 that they were expecting their first child. Drew Hazel East's daughter was born on October 29, 2019. Johnson and her husband revealed in January 2021 that they were expecting their second child, a son. Jett James East's son was born on July 19, 2021.

Shawn Johnson Career

Gymnastics career

When she was 12, Johnson competed in the Junior Olympics (U.S. Level 10) National Championships, finishing fourth in the all-around, first on beam, and second on floor.

Johnson was not accepted into USA Gymnastics' national team training camps, and her mentor, Liang Chow, had no interactions with the national team. Marta Karolyi, the National Team Coordinator, sent Chow's National Team Coordinator, a video of Johnson in 2005, with the caption "I think this kid will help the United States help the country." The team behind him. Karolyi commented, "This coach is so confident," she said, but she quickly welcomed Johnson to national team training camps.

Johnson qualified junior International Elite in her first attempt. She attracted a lot of attention at the 2005 US Classic, where she came in third place. Johnson came off the beam on the first day of competition and finished tenth all-around.

Johnson's expanded capabilities in 2006, including a Jaeger on bars, two top-difficulty (G) techniques, a full-out dismount off beam, and a double-twisting double back on the ground, as well as a double-twisting double back on the floor. She received the 2006 United States Citizens' Prize. With a rating higher than any of her senior elite opponents, the Junior National All-Around Championship was more successful.

Johnson came out as a senior in 2007 and continued to demonstrate new abilities, including a double-twisting double dismount off the uneven bars. She won the all-around over Natasha Kelley, a teammate, at the American Cup. Johnson also participated in the 2007 Pan American Games, winning four gold medals (team, all-around, beam and bars) and a silver on floor.

Johnson won the all-around at the 2007 Visa U.S. National Championships, defeating Shayla Worley by more than three points.

Johnson, together with Nastia Liukin, Shayla Worley, Alicia Sacramone, Ivana Hong, and Samantha Peszek, represented the United States at the 2007 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.

Johnson scored 16.250 on beam, 15.175 on vault, and (with a drop on her dismount) 14.625 on bars in prelims (qualification). In prelims and Johnson qualifying for the all-around, beam, and floor finals, the United States came in first.

Johnson attended all four events in the team finals, becoming the first American to do so. Johnson scored 15.375 on bars and floor, and 15.150 on the vault. She was ranked 15.025 on her handspring-handspring-layout series, but she fell on the beam on her handspring-layout series. With 184.400 points, the team secured gold, 0.950 ahead of silver-medal China. It was the second time the United States team had to win in the World Championships.

Johnson had a 15.175 on vault, 15.375 on bars, 15.900 on beam, and 15.425 on floor in the all-around finals. Her 61.875 was her fourth American woman to win the all-around gold medal.

Johnson competed first on the balance beam, where she collapsed on her balance beam and on her switch side leap, earning a 14.475 and finishing last. On her first tumbling run, she was out-of-bounds on her first tumbling attempt, but she took the gold with a 15.250, just missing teammate Sacramone.

On March 1, 2008, Johnson competed in the American Cup for the second time in Madison Square Garden. She scored a 15.175 on her Amanar vault, achieving a 15.175. On the other hand, she scored 15.625 on bars, 16.325 on beam, and 15.975 on floor. Although Johnson came in first on the vault, balance beam, and floor, she came in second in the all-around. Nastia Liukin earned gold with an uneven bars score nearly a point higher than Johnson.

One week later, Johnson, Olivia Courtney, Chelsea Davis, Bridget Sloan, and Samantha Peszek all represented the United States in Jesolo, Italy, Spain, and Poland against Italy, Spain, and Poland. The United States was crowned the national and senior all-around team championships. Johnson took the all-around with a 61.7, highest scores on vault (15.2), beam (16.2), and floor (15.0). Despite losing on her double-double mount, Johnson finished first on the floor.

Johnson won the 2008 Visa Championships in June 7, 2008. Johnson won the all-around title by a single point over Liukin in 127.5 points. The floor exercise was also won by Johnson.

Johnson won the all-around at the Olympic Trials in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, two weeks later, finishing ahead of Liukin. Johnson and Liukin were drafted to the 2008 U.S. Olympic gymnastics team immediately after the Trials because of their top placements. After two additional selection camps, the other four members of the 2008 team received their positions.

Johnson competed in all four events during the 2008 Summer Olympics, in which the United States claimed the silver medal. Johnson also won the silver medal in the individual all-around competition, scoring 62.725. Nastia Liukin, Johnson's colleague and roommate at the Olympic Village, claimed the gold medal and a scorpionship of 63.325. This was the first time the United States Women's Gymnastics team received both gold and silver medals in the individual all-around competition, with Liukin winning both gold and silver medals; it also marked the fourth time a country won both gold and silver medals in the individual all-around competition.

She won the silver medal in floor exercise, with compatriot Liukin taking bronze. Shannon Miller, the second American to win gold on balance beam since 1996, took home a gold medal on the balance beam apparatus. Liukin and the individual all-around champions received the top two medals in this competition. She qualified as the second reserve for the uneven bars final, but she did not participate.

Johnson tore her left ACL while skiing in January 2010. The following week, she underwent reconstructive knee surgery.

Johnson announced in May 2010 that she would return to gymnastics preparations with the aim of advancing to the 2012 US Olympic team.

Johnson said in August that her knee had recovered to allow full training and that she had acquired a new difficult skill.

In September 2010, Johnson released videos demonstrating the following skills (training status):

Johnson's first post-Olympics National Team Training Camp took place in November 2010. Marta Karolyi ordered that she appear sooner rather than she had expected to return to the "ranch" later in her return from her return from her film, despite the fact that she had hoped to recover to the "ranch" earlier in her recovery. Johnson said that her reconstructed knee also hampered with a high training load.

Johnson qualified as an official member of the USA Senior National Team in February 2011, allowing her to participate in international competitions for the first time. She said she wanted to return to action later this year.

Johnson was selected as a non-traveling substitute for the 2011 USA Women's World Championships Team in September 2011.

Johnson was selected by the 2011 Pan American Games Team in October 2011. She earned a gold medal in the team competition as well as a silver medal for her efforts on the uneven bars.

Johnson halted her 2012 Olympic career and resigned because of persistent problems with her left knee.

Johnson was one of two female celebrities to appear on AOL's 100 most searched females on the internet in 2009, ranking 27th.

According to a Forbes magazine article, Johnson was "America's Most Popular Sports Figure" in 2009.

Johnson ranked seventh on the top of America's Most Popular Female Sports Stars on E-score.com in 2010, and she was ranked seventh of America's Favorite Female Sports Stars on Harris Interactive in 2010.

The 2009 "Best Female Olympian" ESPY announced Johnson's nomination for the 2009 "Best Female Olympian" ESPY. For the second year in a row, Johnson earned the ESPY for "Best Female Olympian" and the "Athlete – Female" Teen Choice Award.

Johnson was honoured with the prestigious AAU James E. Sullivan Award on April 15, 2009. The annual award recognizes a person who best represents "the ideals of amateurism," according to the author. Kurt Thomas and Paul Hamm became the first female gymnast to win this award and the third gymnast to win this honor.

In the 2008 Female Athlete of the Year poll, Johnson ranked fifth.

Johnson was the winner of the 2008 Teen Choice Award for Best Female Athlete, but she was unable to accept the award in person due to Olympic training commitments. She was the first gymnast to be nominated for the award.

At the Iowa Hall of Pride in Des Moines, a life-sized bronze sculpture of Johnson honors the gymnast.

Johnson and Hiroyuki Tomita of Japan received the "Longines Prize for Elegance" in Stuttgart, Germany, on September 7, 2007. The award is given to athletes who exhibit remarkable elegance in the course of an international competition at a world level; the decision was unanimous. From a £3,000 Hermes bomber jacket to £195 Joan of Arctic boots, hidden meanings behind Meghan's 'rich mom energy' ski-slope wardrobe (worth over £44,000!)

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 20, 2024
These days, getting dressed is a minefield. Not only do you have to worry about whether your clothes are in style, but also concerns about their provenance are on the rise. Are they from the High Street? If so, you could be guilty of a fast fashion abetting fast fashion. Where is your jewellery from? These precious stones must be ethically sourced or you'll be in trouble with the fashion police. No one knows this better than Meghan, the queen of carefully coded outfits. No sooner had she touched down than the 'label games' started in Whistler, Canada, to assist Prince Harry's preparations for next year's Invictus Games in the city. Meghan could have worn hundreds - nay, thousands - of snow boots, she selected a pair of Joan Of Arctic boots by Soles for £195. Coincidence, or subliminal way of aligning herself with the martyred saint, put to the stake by representatives of an English king?

Among DailyMail.com's exclusive collection of photographs are snaps of the Duchess of Sussex smiling on the beach in Hawaii and also enjoying a trip to Disneyland, a far cry from the impoverished upbringing she claimed in a 2021 letter to Congress.
