A woman has described how she woke up to find her house ablaze, as fire crews continue to tackle a coastal blaze affecting up to 10 homes. Sarah Power, 53, said she bolted to safety clutching her beloved pets after a fire began tearing through bungalows in Jaywick, near Clacton-on-Sea in Essex. Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said it had six crews working to get the blaze under control at its height and have advised people to avoid the affected area around Beach Way. Some residents were reported to have been rescued from their homes shortly after the blaze took hold around 11am.
