According to the US Marshal Office in Little Rock, Arkansas, Samuel Paul Hartman, 39, and his mother, Linda Annette White, 61, and his mother, Rodney Trent, 52, were arrested at the Quality Inn in Lewisburg, West Virginia, on Tuesday. Hartman was serving a life term in the East Arkansas Regional Unit Prison for the rape of his 14-year-old stepdaughter since his indictment in December 2013. On August 12, 2022, the fugitive was working in a field near the jail when he broke free. By operating the escaping vehicle, the husband and mother of the Hartman helped him.

Multiple local news outlets reported that one of the five people killed in Indiana were Brett Kincaid, 53, and Wendy Kincaid, 47, of Rossville, Indiana, whose bodies were discovered at the McCormick's Creek State Park campground, where they had been camping. According to the National Weather field office in Nashville, thirteen deaths were reported in Tennessee, where an EF-2 tornado tore through several counties. At least nine people were killed in one Tennessee county and four in Illinois, respectively. In Alabama and Mississippi, there were other deaths as a result of the storms that struck Friday night into Saturday.
