Career
Connor shifted between Berlin, Hamburg, and Hanover to work on her R&B and hip hop debut album, which features German musicians Bülent Aris, Rob Tyger and Kay Denar, as well as international collaborators, Eddie Martin and rapper TQ. "Let's Get Back to Bed, Boy!" preceded the top five and top 20 hit singles. respectively, "French Kissing" and "Mexico Kissing," as well as her breakthrough hit "From Sarah with Love," which took first place in Germany, Poland, Portugal, and Switzerland, and raised Connor's profile all over Europe. Green Eyed Soul, which debuted in November 2001, received mixed feedback from music critics who described it as a mixed bag but considered it a good career launcher. The album debuted at number two on the German charts and charted within the top five performers in Austria, Finland, and Switzerland, earning gold medals in Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Portugal, and Switzerland, as well as receiving platinum certification in Finland and Germany. Connor received a Goldene Europa award and was named Best National Rock/Pop Female Artist in the Echo Music Prize after three nominations.
In 2002, Connor joined the Green Eyed Soul Tour and began work on her second studio album Unbelievable. She joined Aris, Denar, and Tyger to produce the bulk of the album, with American musicians Wyclef Jean, Jerry Duplessis, and Diane Warren also contributing to the project. Jean wrote, produced, and rapped on the album's lead single, "One Nite Stand (of Wolves and Sheep)," which then debuted in the top five. Unbelievable reached gold status in Germany within 48 hours and spawned another three singles, including "Skin on Skin," "Unbelievable" and "Bounce."
Connor released a live DVD named Sarah Connor Live – A Night to Remember: A Night to Remember: Pop Meets Classic, whose appearance had been recorded at the Alten Kasselhaus in Düsseldorf on January 24th, 2003, with individual performances of own songs with a classical orchestra backing her up. Despite being heavily pregnant with her first child, Connor's third album, Key to My Soul, was released in November 2003. "Music Is the Key," the album's debut by the cappella singers Naturally 7, became her second number-one hit in Germany. "Just One Last Dance," the album's second and final single, featured new vocals from Marc Terenzi's band Natural. On a composite World Top 40, the duet has climbed to number one in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, as well as the top 20 in the top 20.
Sarah Connor's debut, "Bounce," was the album's first single. Many countries, including Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States, have released it, including Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States. The single made it to number 14 on the charts in Germany. It peaked at number 14 in England and Ireland and was awarded gold in Australia. The album debuted at number 54 on the Billboard Hot 100 in America, with the song only at number 54. The album made it to number 106 in the United States and gained a following in the United States, selling almost ten thousand copies.
Connor returned to music in fall 2004 with the debut of her album "Life to Love You." After a lengthy hiatus that saw the birth of her son Tyler, Connor returned to music. The ballad debuted at number one in Germany and Switzerland, her third straight chart debut, and followed her fourth album Naughty But Nice (2005). Connor reteamed with longtime contributors Booya, Kay Denar, and Rob Tyger to work on the album, whose debut coincided with the airing of her ProSieben reality show Sarah & Marc in Love. Naughty But Nice debuted on the German Albums Chart and ranked in the top three in Austria and Switzerland within the first two days of its debut, netting 100,000 copies in the first two days. The album's general reaction was mixed, with Allmusic grading it three out of five and laut.de describing it as "underclass music for the disco around the corner." "From Zero to Hero" was chosen as the theme song to Robs' 2003 animated film Robots, and her fifth top single in Germany and her fourth number-one hit single in a row.
Connor embarked on the Naughty but Nice concert tour in fall 2005. The tour, which included compiling twenty-three dates in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, came to an end a month later. In December 2005, My Heart released Christmas in My Heart. Both the album and its same-titled lead single reached number four on the charts, conditing a mixture of traditional but modern English standards and re-written German songs in English language. The album was re-released the following year, with the previously unreleased single "The Best Side of Life," another top-four hit.
Connor's sixth studio album Soulicious debuted in March 2007, after another hiatus following the birth of her daughter Summer in 2006. Mainly made up of 1960s and 1970s Motown covers, but also featuring two original songs, recording for the entire album took place at the Berliner Rundfunk's former main building, where Connor was backed by a symphonic orchestra of forty-eight musicians. Since its debut, the album debuted in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, where it had previously been ranked in the top tens in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, where it had all earned gold status. Soulicious received a mixed response from critics, with CDStarts.de describing it as a "sterile soul adaption for the Dome stage." The leading single "The Impossible Dream (The Quest)), which was featured in a publicity campaign for German boxer Henry Maske's comeback fight and "Sexual Healing," a duet with American singer Ne-Yo, reached the top ten and top ten of the singles charts respectively, ranked second and top ten respectively, as well as "Sexue Healing," a duet with American singer Ne-Yo.
Connor's work on her forthcoming original album with producers such as Remee, Thomas Troelsen, and J. R. Rotem intensified as she moved into a new musical direction. On ProSieben, Connor and her family would appear in a eight-part reality show called "Believing in Love" in May 2008. The special debuted on July 3, 2008, and it followed the recording and promotional activities for the new album, dubbed Sexy as Hell. "Under My Skin," Troelsen's first single, was released in German-speaking Europe on August 1, 2008, with the album following on August 22, 2008. She was first nominated for an ECHO later this year.
Connor performed on Enrique Iglesias' duet "Takin' Back My Love" in 2009, replacing American singer Ciara's original vocals on the song. It was released as the second single from Iglesias' 2008 Greatest Hits album in German-speaking Europe, Poland, and the Czech Republic, achieving the top ten of the German singles chart. Connor will appear on X Factor's debut series in April 2010, alongside mentor George Glueck and singer Till Brönner, according to the German VOX network. Connor was chosen in the 16-24s category (made up of solo contestants between 16 and 24), but she was unable to make the final show after her compatriot Mati Gavriel was disqualified in his seventh week, and Edita Abdieski was named the winner of X Factor instead. Connor debuted her eighth studio album Real Love on October 22, 2010, despite her appearances on X Factor. Critics loved it, and it debuted at number eight on the German albums chart, earning a lukewarm reception. Overall, Real Love released two singles, including "Cold as Ice," which made it to the top of the German singles chart and its debut track, as well as its title track, two of which were her lowest-charting singles in years. Connor was in possession of the groups and over 25s categories in the 2011 and 2012 X Factor series. Nica & Joe and Björn Paulsen came third, losing to David Pfeffer and Mrs. Greenbird once more.
Following a hiatus, Connor appeared in Sing meinen Song - Das Tauschkonzert, the German version of The Best Singers film. Connor's ninth studio album Muttersprache, her first album to be entirely recorded in German, was released in 2015. Following her appearances on Sing meinen Song, Connor worked with a smaller number of designers on the record, including Daniel Faust, Peter Plate, and Ulf Leo Sommer. Muttersprache debuted on the German albums charts as her second top-one album after 2005's Naughty but Nice. Muttersprache was designated gold by the Bundesverband Musikindustrie (BVMI) in Germany this week, just days after its debut. Since being certified platinum, it has since been on display. The album debuted on the Swiss Albums Chart at number one, her first album to do so. "Wie schön du bist" became Connor's highest-charting single in a decade, debuting at number two on the German singles chart and selling over 260,000 copies.
