Career
During high school, a friend of Nuru's requested that she participate in the fourth cycle casting of Germany's Next Topmodel in Munich. Nuru was chosen as one of the finalists and received a job for Sony Ericsson and Gillette during the competition. Nuru was named the fourth cycle's champion and the first Ethiopian winner on May 21, 2009. Nuru did not win a modeling job with IMG Models, like the three previous winners of Germany's Next Topmodel, but Heidi Klum GmbH, whose manager is Heidi Klum, was not successful, despite Heidi's father's Günther Klum.
Nuru was already known as a model for friendly designers before she was chosen by a photographer when she was 15 years old, and she had already been given the opportunity to work as a photographer. Jennifer Hof, who also appeared in a fashion show in Dresden, was a winner of cycle 3.
Nuru began modeling in 2009. Escada Laurèl, Guido Maria Kretschmer, Gant, Cesar Galindo NY, Custo Barcelona, and Roberto Cavalli performed in shows during London Fashion Week London, New York Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week Milan, and Berlin Fashion Week Berlin.
"I was not aware of how blatantly young women were treated there," she wrote in September 2022. It was as if I had blinders on, but a lot was me that I wasn't aware of it even as a participant. I'm still shocked by how young people are treated," says the author. "With the knowledge I had today, I would not participate in Germany's Next Topmodel again," she said.
