Sara Cox spoke out on Wednesday about the 'ladette' label she was branded with in the '90s and admitted she 'hates' the term. A 'ladette' is described by the Cambridge Dictionary as 'a young woman who drinks a lot of alcohol, uses rude language, and behaves in a noisy way'. The former radio DJ, 49, led the British ladettes, completed by Zoe Ball, Gail Porter, Sarah Cawood, Donna Air, Claire Gorham, Rachel Williams, and Jayne Middlemiss. The ladette culture was in full swing on the Channel 4 programme The Girlie Show hosted by Sara, Sarah, Claire, and Rachel. The late-night show had a magazine format, featured interviews and live music, and was billed as edgier than other shows on at the time.
