Sandy Alcantara (right) and the Houston Astros' franchise Justin Verlander (left) have been lauded for their stellar seasons by winning the NL and AL Cy Young Awards, respectively. Both pitchers received their awards unanimously, the first time this has happened in MLB since 1968. Alcantara is the first Dominican to win the coveted prize in 25 years. In the meantime, Verlander made a comeback for the ages from Tommy John surgery to help Houston to its second World Series in franchise history.
