Ever the thoughtful host, rapper and music mogul Sean 'P Diddy' Combs stepped onto the balcony of his mansion in the Hamptons one summer in the 2000s to let guests of a more sensitive disposition know that it would soon be time to go home. The debauchery was about to get serious. 'We fed you all, we gave you drinks, now it's time to enjoy life,' he told them to cheers. 'This is a celebration of life. This is the real White Party. Kids have an hour left [then] this thing turns into something that when you get older, this is something y'all gonna want to come to... so let's just start to get our groove on, put the kids away. It's all good.' The entertainment industry is waiting in trepidation to see whose name will be next to be dragged into the scandal which has seen Sean 'P Diddy ' Combs arrested.

When Anjem Choudary was a beer-swilling ladies' man student called 'Andy': How the Islamist firebrand posed with pints and pornographic magazines...before going on to inspire an army of terrorists in UK and abroad
www.dailymail.co.uk,
July 31, 2024
Prosecutor Tom Little KC told jurors at Woolwich Crown Court earlier this month: 'Leopards don't change their spots.' The 'leopard' the barrister was referring to was notorious hate preacher Anjem Choudary, who had spectacularly proved the adage by failing to resist the urge to inspire the next generation of terrorists as soon as he had the means. Choudary has spent three decades promoting the establishment of an Islamic state in Britain and advocating for violence, with his lectures inspiring beheadings and bomb plots around the world. Yet his student days suggested a different picture, with Choudary then going by the name of Andy and posing in front of pints and with pornographic magazine Mayfair. He has now been jailed for life with a minimum term of 28 years for directing a secret terrorist propaganda operation over the course of ten years.

Salman Rushdie has revealed he thought 'this is the end' as he lay in a 'lake' of his own blood after being viciously stabbed multiple times at a book fair two years ago. The Indian-born British author, who was left fighting for his life after being attacked at the Chatauqua Institution in New York state, says it was 'good fortune' that mean he survived his grievous injuries. The 76-year-old lost his right eye following the attack, while also being stabbed in the face, neck, chest, abdomen, thigh and hand in the assassination attempt in front of horrified audience members on August 12, 2022. The novelist said frenzied knifing, which lasted around 30 seconds, came 'out of the blue' despite having been the subject of death threats since the 1980s over his book The Satanic Verses.

DAILY MAIL COMMENT: Will Rwanda flights be boarding soon?
www.dailymail.co.uk,
April 16, 2024
With the Rwanda Bill back in the Commons yesterday, MPs received a timely reminder of why it is so urgently needed. On Sunday, 534 migrants crossed the Channel to claim asylum here - the highest number this year. As winter gives way to spring, the small boats are back in force. Attempts to crack down on the traffickers have had little effect, so another way must be found to break the business model of this dangerous trade in humanity. Rwanda can be a vital part of the solution. If asylum seekers know they won't be allowed to stay in Britain, the incentive to risk their lives traversing one of the world's busiest seaways disappears. Equally, by sending them abroad for processing, the taxpayer would no longer be forced to house them here at a cost of some £8million a day.
Salman Rushdie reveals his wife chartered $20K plane to reach him after being told he 'wasn't going to make it' - after being stabbed 15 times during frenzied knife attack that cost him the sight in his right eye

The Satanic Verses author has opened up for the first time about the assassination attempt on stage at a New York literary festival in August 2022 that cost him an eye and saw him suffer stab wounds to his face, neck, chest, abdomen, thigh and hand. Sir Salman's wife, the poet and novelist Rachel Eliza Griffiths, was a seven-hour drive away in New York City when she was told on the phone that her husband had been attacked and was 'not going to make it'. The medics who assessed the Indian-born British author when he was rushed to hospital in an air ambulance later admitted they did not believe they could save him. In his memoir, Knife, Sir Salman revealed that Eliza chartered a private jet that cost more than $20,000 (£16,050) in order to get to the hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Matar, 26, was supposed to be arrested early this month for the assault that left Rushdie on a ventilator and cost him an eye, as jury selection began on January 8. But Chautauqua County Judge David Foley ruled Matar was entitled to receive a copy of the book 'Knife: Reflections After an Attempted Murder,' even though it is not due out until April 16. Isn't just the book,' defense attorney Nathaniel Barone said, 'I'm entitled to every little note Rushdie wrote down, and I'm sure, I'm entitled to.'

Former Iran regime official and 'professor of peace' is ousted from Woke Oberlin college for allegedly sexually assaulting Jewish students and bullying Jewish students by promoting Hamas
www.dailymail.co.uk,

In addition to allegations that he assaulted Jewish students and defended Hamas in lectures, Mohammad Mahallati sparked an anti-Semitism investigation at Oberon College in Ohio last month. In the late 1980s, the tenacious professor of religion was enslaved in Iran's enslavery, and he was accused of covering up the regime's massacre of 5,000 imprisoned protesters. However, the liberal college only turned against him when it emerged that he sexually assaulted a student at Columbia University in the 1990s. 'It's disheartening that it took Oberlin College three years to take this critical action,' said Lawdan Bazargan, whose brother Bijan was among those assassinated in 1988.
The two 'experienced' Dutch translators of Omid Scobie's book say it's 'unthinkable' that the women'real racist names' were included in the transcripts themselves
www.dailymail.co.uk,

Exclusive: In the preface to the book 'EndGame', two members of the royal family were identified in the racial controversy that engulfed the company, Saskia Peeters and Nellie Keukelaar-van Rijsbergern (left) are listed. The names were initially expected due to a 'translation' mix up, but later said a 'error' led to their printing on pages 128 and 324 of the book, which has the tag 'Final Battle' in Holland. Colleagues who translate books from English into Dutch told MailOnline that it would be "unthinkable" for the women to insert the names themselves unless they were already in the manuscript. 'I find it very odd that a translator would mention names that weren't present in their English translation, particularly in the case of such a crucial subject.'
Is this the most divisive Booker winner ever?Prophet Song about a dystopian Dublin descending into far-right tyranny divides opinion as critics slam it as 'political writing at its laziest' while judges call it 'soul-shattering and true'
www.dailymail.co.uk,

On Sunday, Irish writer Paul Lynch claimed the Booker Prize for fiction about a woman's fight to save her family in a dystopian Ireland's demises into totalitarianism and war under a far-right government. While readers regard Prophet Song as 'propulsive and unparing,' critics have been less generous, naming it as the 'weakest book on the shortlist' that won't withstand the test of time.' At a London literary award ceremony last night, a dystopian fictional version of Dublin was awarded the £50,000-pound literary award.
The award was given to this year's winner after Paul Lynch's book Prophet Song, which refers to police and protesters clashing in Ireland, was not inspired by last week's riots in Dublin
www.dailymail.co.uk,

The judges of the Booker Prize have largely influenced their selection of this year's finalists, a book describing police and activists clashing in Ireland. After a full day of talks on Saturday, Prophet Song by Paul Lynch, 46, was chosen champion, with judges arguing that current events were not a 'determining factor' in their decision. However, judges Esi Edugyan's chairman acknowledged yesterday that although the latest Dublin mayhem was not "particularly front of mind" at the time, it did play a role in their discussions. "It wasn't the deciding factor, but I admit that it was something that did get raised," she said. One cannot let world events determine what one chooses as the best book ever published.'
