Three more cases of Mpox detected outside of Africa - as new details of Swedish patient with deadly variant emerges

A mutant form of the rash-causing virus is currently spreading rampantly in Africa, killing an estimated 10 per cent of those infected. It is a descendent of the deadly clade 1 strain of mpox, formerly known as monkeypox , and different than the mild version which spread to over dozen countries , including the UK, in 2022. But Pakistan's public health agency said it wasn't yet clear if the three cases logged were the same strain and where the virus had originated from. It comes just a day after Sweden reported its first case of the new deadly form, marking the first time it has been found outside of Africa.

Testing on vaping confiscated from children revealed dangerous amounts of lead, nickel, and chromium. Some people were over ten times above legal thresholds. Exposure to lead can affect brain development, while the other two can cause blood clotting. The results of the experiment, which were carried out at a Worcestershire college, were the "worst I've ever seen," one expert said. It comes as teens' smoking rates increase, prompting one leading pediatrician warns that "we are sleepwalking into an existential crisis for children."

Shaheer Khan (main) suffered serious burns in the horrific attack in Karachi's Orangi town on September 14 and was admitted to hospital, but he was unable to recover and succumbed to his injuries two days later. His father, Nazir (top right), reportedly spat kerosene over his son and lit a fire in an attempt to compel him to finish his homework, but the fire ignited the oil and set the child ablaze.
