The summer transfer window hasn't failed to disappoint. Although the majority of Europe's top-flight leagues are set to tighten their belts, the Premier League has gone the other way, with top-flight clubs spending more than £1.5 billion so far during the season - and further contracts are planned. This is a record figure, outspending the £1.43 billion top division clubs invested in the summer of 2017. Chelsea leads the way as the division's top spenders, closely followed by Nottingham Forest, who have signed a startling 16 players under Steve Cooper. With just a week until the transfer window closes on September 1 at 11 p.m. BST, Sportsmail looks at where each club is planning to improve and who is on the radar. After signing a four-year deal with the option to extend for another two seasons, the German center back (pictured), 25, becomes the Hammers' sixth summer signing. Versatile star Kehrer, who can also play in both full-back positions, will wear the No. 24 shirt at the club, which was recently vacated by Ryan Fredericks. 'I'm really excited to sign for West Ham United,' he said. This is the best league in the country, and I'm excited to play in the Premier League. I talked to the manager, who told me how he sees me fitting in at the club. My current goal is to join the squad, integrate myself into the team, and enjoy playing for West Ham.'
