Ms Murphy, 23, was repeatedly stabbed by 33-year-old Jozef Puska while jogging on a canal path in Tullamore, County Offaly, on the afternoon of January 12, 2022. Puska, a married father of five who immigrated from Slovakia in 2015, had pleaded not guilty to her murder. However, a jury of nine men and three women delivered a unanimous guilty verdict at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin last week. Ryan Casey, her six-year-old boyfriend, turned to Puska after she said, "I will never get to marry my soulmate" during today's sentencing hearing. Puska smirked and smiled during a harrowing three-week trial, including: "You showed no remorse that sums up the person you are, the epitome of evil." Ms Murphy's heartbroken mother said her daughter was 'one in a million' and her murder left "such a hole in our house, I can't bear it." Puska should never see the light of day again during the emotional hearing, she said. Mr Justice Tony Hunt was given a mandatory life term for Puska after hours of emotional testimony from Ms Murphy's family, saying it was 'deserved'.

A shocking video showed the moment two youths engaged in a deadly knife fight in an alleyway between a McDonald's and a Burger King. As one of them turned on another, a group of about 13 men, mainly dressed in black, was seen on the path. However, events took a turn for the worse when one of the group pulled out a massive knife and swung it at his rival, who thankfully did not get to his competitor. In the broad daylight attack, the two fought back and forth, racing around in circles.
