Rosalind Harris Life

Rosalind Harris (born March 19, 1950) is an American theater and film actress.

In the 1971 film Fiddler on the Roof, she is best known for her portrayal of Tzeitel, Tevye's oldest daughter.

Tzeitel in the Broadway musical has also appeared, having substituted Bette Midler.

Harris played mother Golde in a touring stage revival of Fiddler on the Roof; Topol, the Israeli actor who portrayed father Tevye in the film, also appeared in numerous musicals, regional theater, and stock.

Elsie in Horatio (Arena Stage), Jenny Hill in Major Barbara (American Shakespeare Festival)/& understudy to Jane Alexander, Aldonza in Man of La Mancha, Mama Rose in Gypsy, Leona Samish in Do I Hear a Waltz? (Economy Library Theatre), ten productions of Funny Girl as Fanny Brice (her favourite performance, at Chateau DeVille Dinner Theatre), as Dora in The Rise of David Levinsky (American Jewish Theatre), and eight others. Her role as a "female doctor" in a Mogen David Wine commercial received a Clio Award, as well.

She was nominated for a MAC Award in 1993 for her role in the Hollywood Opera, directed by and also starring Barry Keating.

Mrs. Santa Clause Harris, after co-starring in 1996 as Mrs. Lowenstein in the Hallmark Hall of Fame, made-for-television film, took time out to design her own vintage and estate jewelry company, "Rosalind's – As You Liked It."

In a comeback performance at the Cherry Lane Theatre in 2012 as Sadie, she appeared in the new musical MisSpelled at the Cherry Lane Theatre in New York City as part of Fiddler on the Roof's 50th Anniversary Gala, with Sheldon Harnick, Chita Rivera, and Chaim Topol.

In another Fiddler tribute in the summer of 2016, Harris and other cast members appeared at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York.
