MailOnline has unearthed videos of past-and-present stars of the BBC show coaching their celebrities as the corporation says it will bring in chaperones for the next series to protect famous students. Behind the scenes films of dancers including Giovanni Pernice, Anton du Beke, Neil Jones, Nancy Xu getting tough or ribbing their partners are being shared on social media and YouTube in the wake of the scandal engulfing the show. Mr Jones, one of the show's top choreographer who was married to Katya Jones and later became a celebrity dancer, was filmed telling EastEnders actress Nina Wadia with a straight face: 'This is hard work for me to watch you do this over and over again'. And star dancer Nancy Xu was shown using resistance bands to help stretch partner Rhys Stephenson's arms into a good hold. She encourages him to hold the pose for as long as possible but he appeared to be in pain. There is also GMTV footage of Anton Du Beke and Kate Garraway, laden with innuendo - before he throws her into a backwards hold, making her squeal and then laugh.

Strictly Come Dancing has sparked civil war at the BBC 's CBBC channel over who wins the chance to be in this year's series. Strictly chiefs often take one of its stars for the competition, as well as from programmes such as EastEnders and BBC Breakfast. But this year there have been what BBC insiders call 'sharp elbows' at the children's channel over who gets to dance. Front-runner is Blue Peter presenter Shini Muthukrishnan, 22, who joined the show in January. But agents of some of her co-stars have been battling to put their clients on Strictly and are fuming at the prospect of losing out because they know how it elevates careers.

Strictly Come Dancing star Rhys Stephenson announced that he had secretly married his girlfriend, Beth Johnson, on Monday.  The CBBC presenter, 30, who was paired with pro dancer Nancy Xu on the hit show in 2021, shared a series of sweet photos from their big day to Instagram.  Rhys uploaded a fun clip as he performed a 'secret handshake' with Beth as they celebrated getting married. 

After he revealed his commitment to his partner Beth Johnson on Tuesday, Rhys Stephenson was congratulated by his Strictly Come Dancing pals. The CBBC's host, who was paired with pro dancer Nancy Xu on the hit winter show in 2021, posted a touching snapshot of the two of them gushing over the glitzy engagement ring on Instagram. After saying yes in the serene Cayman Islands, Rhys, 30, was grinning cheek to cheek as Beth flouted the green diamond gem.
