Redmond Gerard Life

* Redmond "Red" Gerard (born June 29, 2000) is an American snowboarder and a 2018 Winter Olympics gold medalist for the 2018 United States Olympic team. Gerard was born and raised in Ohio, but he lives in Silverthorne, Colorado, where he has his own miniature snowboarding park in his backyard and competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics. * Gerard gained the gold medal for his effort in slopestyle. * This performance was particularly memorable for the events surrounding Gerard's; he had overslept in his hotel room after late night, binge-watching "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" on Netflix, was compelled to borrow his roommate's jacket, and mistakenly used profanity after his triumph on live television. He was the first winter Olympian to win a gold medal since 1928. * He was the first Winter Olympics medalist born in the 2000s. * Gerard was also the first American gold medalist in the 2018 Winter Olympics, and the youngest American to medal in a snowboarding competition at the Olympics. This is his first appearance in the Olympics. In their Feb. 6, 2018 issue, Sport Illustrated predicted Gerard to win the gold medal. * He came in 1st overall in the FIS Snowboard World Cup Standings in 2017. * Gerard won the overall Toyota Grand Prix in Mammoth, CA, in 2019. He came in 1st in the 2018 Aspen Grand Prix, 2nd in the 2018 Mammoth Toyota Grand Prix, and 1st in the 2017 Mammoth Grand Prix. He came in 4th in the 2017 Winter Dew Tour, 4th in 2017 Burton US Open, and 4th in Slopestyle at the 2015 FIS Junior World Championships. Gerard won his second major competition in 2019 at the Burton US Open in men's slopestyle.
