Royal mothers... three decades apart: Princess Diana and Kate Middleton show their maternal love in strikingly similar videos

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 4, 2024
As a universally famous princess who is mother to the future King, Kate Middleton has more than a little bit in common with the late Princess Diana. Kate, the first Princess of Wales since the tragic death of Diana in 1997, has strived to emulate her late mother-in-law's passionate work for charitable causes. And another shared trait is their love for their children and other youngsters, as videos filmed decades apart reveal. In a clip from 1984, Princess Diana can be seen holding her youngest son Prince Harry during his christening party at Windsor Castle. Diana is seen trying to beckon over her three-year-old niece Zara Phillips. She shouts, 'Zara!', and asks someone nearby, 'can you get Zara?', before saying her name again as she beckons her over with her hand. Three decades later, Prince William and Kate brought Prince George and Princes Charlotte on their royal tour of Canada. At a party for military families, Kate was filmed petting a dog. The clip shows her turning around and calling out: 'Look Charlotte, Charlotte look,' to try and get her daughter's attention.

RUGBY CONFIDENTIAL: Six Nations future on BBC in danger, Wales star's naked encounter with Prince William and how the Springboks are targeting the All Black brand

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 2, 2024
NIK SIMON - RUGBY CONFIDENTIAL: The future of the Six Nations is on risky ground. There were hopes that a change in government at Westminster would lead to a change in the tournament's protected status on free-to-air TV but that is not the case. The joint broadcasting deal between the BBC and ITV expires in March and then it is open for bids. Private equity giants CVC will be involved behind the scenes and the fear is they will trade-off the sport's precious place in the public conscience in pursuit of the biggest cheque. It would be a heavy price to pay for a short-term sugar hit. Who are the players? TNT Sports have entered the market for international rugby and will surely consider bidding if their coverage of the autumn series is a hit. Backed by Warner Brothers, they recently struck a joint deal with the BBC to show the FA Cup and could explore a similar hybrid option. This could well end up being the happy medium.

Before they married, the couple used pseudonyms together.

When Prince William wanted to quit university: The royal came close to walking away from St Andrews (where he met Kate) after one term - before key intervention changed his mind

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 27, 2024
Though he left with a first-class degree and a girlfriend he would go on to marry, things could have gone very differently had Prince William fulfilled his desire to leave university. After he spent his gap year travelling, the then 19-year-old's time in higher education got off to a rocky start. William began studying a degree in Art History at St Andrews in September 2001. However by the end of his first term the Prince was having second thoughts. Royal expert Robert Lacey told in his 2020 book Battle of Brothers how William only spent two of the 13 term-time weekends at the university and would often go home to London or Highgrove.
