Phillipa Soo (born May 31, 1990) is an American actress and singer.
She is best known for her role as Eliza Schuyler Hamilton in the Broadway musical Hamilton, a nomination for the 2016 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical.
Natasha Rostova, who appeared in a number of New York productions of Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 in 2012 and 2013, as well as her title role in Amélie, which Soo originated on Broadway in 2017.

Early life and education
Soo was born in Libertyville, Illinois. She is of half-Chinese descent; her paternal grandparents immigrated from China to the United States. Her father is a surgeon, and her mother, who is from Southern Illinois, is interested in the arts.

Acting career
Soo was cast as Natasha Rostova in Dave Malloy's Natasha Rostova, based on Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace, after graduating from Juilliard in 2012. The show continued to move from Ars Nova to Kazino, another Off-Broadway space built for the occasion.
After seeing her appearance in Great Comet, filmmaker Thomas Kail, composer, and writer Lin-Manuel Miranda pleaded with her to participate in an early 2014 reading of the musical Hamilton, in which she appeared as the leading female role, "Eliza" (Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton). Soo stayed with the show through its Off-Broadway and Broadway debuts. She was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical by the Tony Award in 2016, alongside Laura Benanti, Carmen Cusack, Jessie Mueller, and winner Cynthia Erivo. Soo appeared in Hamilton on July 9, 2016, and Lexi Lawson took over Eliza's role.
Soo appeared in the title role in Amélie's pre-Broadway appearance at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles from December 2016 to January 2017. Soo will appear Cinderella in the Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods at the St. James Theatre on May 26, according to the actress. Soo appeared on Sara Bareilles, Brian D'Arcy James, Joshua Henry, and Patina Miller. "One of her best appearances since her shattering appearance as the original Eliza in Hamilton," Rooney praised for her role with The Hollywood Reporter critic David Rooney. She appeared on the show from September 4, 2022. Soo will appear in a revival of Guys and Dolls at The Kennedy Center on August 2, 2022.
