More than £4 million has been invested on taxis and buses to cover cancellations by Scottish Government-owned ScotRail. According to the latest estimates, the bill for rail replacement services at the nationalised operator has been £4,193,520 since the start of the 2022/23 financial year. It involved more than £1.2 million on unplanned cancellations, while a further £271,000 was spent on taxis to get passengers home after they were stranded due to services not operating as expected.
