Lisa LaFlamme was granted permission by CTV News in June after she stopped dying her hair during the pandemic. On Friday, she confessed to being taken aback by the outpouring of love following her ouster. 'The most words I ever heard were not for months in Baghdad or Afghanistan, or any story, but when my hair became grey, bar none,' LaFlamme told The New York Times. Bell Media, the parent company of CTV, said the plot was inaccurate, but refused to explain the correct reasons behind it. Lisa's age, gender, or gray hair all factored in the decision.' I am positive that this is not the case and want to make sure you heard it from me,' CEO Mirko Bibic (inset) wrote on LinkedIn. 'While I'd like to expand on the Bell Media decision, we're bound by a joint separation deal negotiated with Lisa that we will continue to honor.'

The CTV News let former Nightly News host Lisa LaFlamme, 58, of Toronto, go on June 29. After 35 years, the company made a 'business call' to prematurely end her employment. It has been widely believed that she was dropped from the major network after she refused to let her hair go gray during the pandemic. Bell Media Mirko Bibic's CEO denied the allegation, saying that her 'age, gender, or gray hair' did not factor in her dismissal. LaFlamme said she was 'blindsided' by the company's decision and was not allowed to make an on-air farewell. Bell Media has been chastised for allegedly having a hostile workplace, including allegations of sexual assault and bullying.
