Peter Lindgren (born March 6, 1973) is a Swedish singer and songwriter.
He is best known as the former guitarist of Swedish progressive death metal band Opeth.
Personal life
Lindgren holds degrees in engineering physics and literature at KTH Royal Institute of Technology and literature at Stockholm University. Lindgren, the founder of Opeth, has been working as an IT consultant and senior manager in Stockholm and has so far avoided being caught out of the public eye.
Musical career
Lindgren performed on stage in 1991 as a bassist but the band's name was changed to guitars. Lead-playing responsibilities were based on ease of Mikael 'kerfeldt's vocal performance and which of the two pairs may require a single more. If kerfeldt was having problems with a solo, he'd give it to Lindgren and vice versa, and vice versa. Both Peter and Mikael kerfeldt were ranked #42 out of the 100 Top Heavy Metal Guitarists of all time by Guitar World in March 2004.
Lindgren has co-written the lyrics for several songs, including "Black Rose Immortal" from Morningrise, "Demon of the Fall," from My Arms, Your Hearse, "Dirge for November" and "Blackwater Park" from Blackwater Park, during his time in Opeth.
Peter Lindgren left Opeth because of the demands of life on the road as a touring musician, and he'd lost his enthusiasm for playing in Opeth in May 2007. Both Lindgren and kerfeldt said that the split was amicable. Fredrik kesson had to replace Lindgren.
