Peter Karrie (originally Peter Karagianis), born 10 August 1946, is a Welsh performer and an honorary fellow of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. * He appeared in The Phantom of the Opera in London (1991, 1992), Winnipeg, Singapore, and Hong Kong (1995,1997), and Manchester, 2000, 1998). * Members of the Opera Appreciation Society of 1994 and 1995 named him their favorite Phantom. Karrie was born in Wales, where he had radio and television programmes on BBC Wales. * He began his career as the lead singer of Peter and the Wolves and went on to appear in many West End musical productions, including Les Misérables and Chess. * In Annie, Fagin, Oliver, he also played Daddy Warbucks. On the Roof of Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Tevye and Tevye Fiddler. * In 2005, he appeared with Shan Côthi in the Mal Pope's The Amazing Grace at the Wales Millennium Centre for the Theatre Company. In the one-off Three Phantoms concert in aid of George Thomas Hospice Care, he appeared alongside John Owen Jones and Nic Greenshields. * He has appeared in three Bernard J. Taylor musicals, as well as the title role of Nosferatu. He appeared in the 33rd edition of The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, where he and Brenna Conrad gave a Cole Porter tribute and a version of Phantom of the Opera. Karrie, a married woman with six children, is an ambassador for Bobath Children's Therapy Centre Wales, a registered charity in Cardiff that provides specialist Bobath therapy to children from Wales with cerebral palsy. In 2013, he resigned his honorary fellowship at Aberystwyth University in protest, citing the fact that "no one of the country's finest arts centers" has been "unable to encourage a government that treats their employees in such draconian and appalling way. "In association with the Blaenavon Workmen's Hall, one of South East Wales' finest remaining mining institutes, Peter has written and performed in a new Pantomime within the hall's 350-seated Theatre in December 2017." "Puss in Boots" by Peter will feature both professional and local amateur students selected from his musical theatre drama school – The Blaenavon Academy of Arts.
