For them, it was just one more node in a 300-mile tunnel network that sprawls over subterranean Gaza devoted to a single aim: spewing terror into Israel. It is sheathed in layers of concrete bolstered by bags full of sand, as with all Hamas tunnels. However, there is one sack that stands out under its roof. It has the logo of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, which is brightly colored (UNRWA). An image encapsulating so much of this conflict could not be more revealing. It's also unsurprising.

According to internal department filings and expense reports, Brinton, 35, travelled to Las Vegas to the DOE-operated Nevada National Security Side. Brinton flew on a United Airlines flight from Washington, D.C., to Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas on July 6, 2022, according to the documents obtained by the Functional Government Initiative. According to police, Brinton took a suitcase worth $3,670 at the airport on the same date they had traveled for official DOE business. The stolen bag contained jewelry worth $1,700, as well as makeup worth $500.

Brinton was arrested in May on suspicion of stealing a suitcase from Ronald Reagan International Airport in 2018 from Tanzanian-American fashion designer Asyakhamsin. After learning about Brinton's other robberies and seeing pictures of them sporting her stolen goods, the designer and her lawyer contacted police. Brinton was being held in prison in Maryland, but was released on bond yesterday.

After security video (main) caught Peter Hansen (inset) striking an unidentified patient repeatedly with a notebook in April 20, 2021, he was suspended by the Kansas City Fire Department. Hansen was reinstated after the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 42 argued that other KCFD firefighters had been involved in similar incidents and that Hansen had been singled out by the department. Hansen would be reinstated despite the union's de-escalation and anger management training. Hansen has since trained to be a firefighter.
