For the first time in decades due to the UK's widespread drought, a Welsh mansion beloved by Romantic poet Shelley that was submerged under a reservoir for more than 100 years has been excavated. Shelley's foundations have been discovered during his visits, as well as the garden walls, where he and his teenage wife Harriet used to walk. Shelley walked 250 miles from his family's Sussex farm to Wales when his uncle had invited him to stay. The nineteenth-century wordsmith was obsessed with the abode's oak staircase and was eager to buy it with his teenage companion in 1812.
