Since it was set in the 1970s, a play about the late Queen Mother in London's West End has been given a warning. The Duke of York's Theatre is staging Backstairs Billy, which chronicles Queen Elizabeth's friendship with her aide William Tallon, portrayed by Luke Evans. According to the Telegraph, viewers of the show have been warned that it may have 'attitudes, words, and conventions' that a modern audience might find unpalatable. Marcelo Dos Santos' book explores Tallon's relationship with the Queen Mother, as well as the dramatization of rumors that a male prostitute was sneaked into Clarence House. It also includes references to 'Billy's' homosexuality, as well as trade union strikes as Margaret Thatcher became Prime Minister.
